Høvåg
Høvåg (historically: ''Høvaag'') is a former municipality in the old Aust-Agder county in Norway. The municipality existed from 1865 until its dissolution in 1962. It was located in the southern part of the present-day municipality of Lillesand which is now in Agder county. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Høvåg where the Høvåg Church is located. Old coastal settlements in Høvåg include Ulvøysund, Gamle Hellesund, Skottevik, Kjøbmannsvig and Åkerøyhamn. The village of Høvåg is located midway between the towns of Lillesand and Kristiansand. Høvåg Church
Høvåg Church ( no, Høvåg kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Lillesand Municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the village of Høvåg. It is the church for the Høvåg parish which is part of the Vest-Nedenes prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white, stone church was built in a cruciform design around the year 1100 using plans drawn up by an unknown architect. The church seats about 315 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1416, but the church was likely old by then. The first church on the site was likely a Romanesque stone church that was built around the year 1100. The church was about long at the time of its construction. Høvåg is a village in Lillesand municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located about southwest of the town of Lillesand and about northeast of the city of Kristiansand. Aust-Agder
Aust-Agder (, en, "East Agder") was a county (''fylke'') in Norway until 1 January 2020, when it was merged with Vest-Agder to form Agder county. In 2002, there were 102,945 inhabitants, which was 2.2% of Norway's population. Its area was . The county's administrative center was the town of Arendal. Vestre Moland is a former municipality in the old Aust-Agder county in Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Møglestu where the Vestre Moland Church is located. Gamle Hellesund
Gamle Hellesund is an outport in the Høvåg area in the municipality of Lillesand in Agder county, Norway. It is located on the island of ''Helløya'' in the coastal archipelago about halfway between the village of Ulvøysund to the southwest and Åkerøyhamn to the northeast. The small village is only accessible by boat. Historically, the village served as an outport along the Blindleia strait for boats coming from the Skaggerak. Today, Gamle Hellesund stays empty most of the year and is largely used in the summer by tourists. Lillesand is the administrative centre of Lillesand municipality in Agder county, Norway. The town is located along the Skaggerak coast, about southwest of the town of Grimstad and about northeast of the city of Kristiansand. Ulvøysund
Ulvøysund is a village and an outport in the municipality of Lillesand in Agder county, Norway. The village lies on the east side of the Kvåsefjorden on the island of Ulvøya. Just northeast of Ulvøysund is the entrance to the Blindleia inland waterway which leads towards the town of Lillesand. The village is connected to the mainland by road. The nearby village of Ribe lies about straight north of Ulvøysund. The village was historically used as an outport along the Skaggerak coast for the large ships that couldn't navigate inland through the archipelago to the towns on the mainland. History The oldest sign of activity in Ulvøysund, is an old shipwreck on the approach of Kvåsefjorden.
