Hørsholm 79'ers Basketball Klub is a Danish basketball club from Hørsholm founded in 1979, playing both in the male and female Danish championships. The women's team is one of the most successful teams in Danish history, having won 9 national championships between 1996 and 2018, including five titles in a row from 2004 to 2008. History On January 27, 2018, Hørsholm won the Danish Women's Basketball Cup after beating SISU BK, 71-64, in the cup finals. On April 28, 2017, Hørsholm won the women's national championship after defeating Stevnsgade Basketball 68-60 in the fifth and deciding game of the finals series. In June 2018, Hørsholm announced the men's club would resign to its place in the Basketligaen due to financial problems and would compete in the second tier. The Basketligaen ( en, The Basketball League) is the highest professional basketball league in Denmark. The original men's first division was founded in 1957 and the current league was founded in 1998. All-time record holder in league titles is Bakken Bears, which has captured 18 titles in its history. BMS is the only team with 5 titles in a row, starting in 1986 through 1990. The main TV partner of the league is Sport Live. The league consists of 10 teams, with no relegation rules. Stevnsgade Basketball (also known as Stevnsgade, Stevnsgade Supermen, Supermen and SBBK) is a Danish basketball team located in Nørrebro, Copenhagen. Stevnsgade is one of the most winningest teams in Danish men's basketball history, having won 3 national titles (1979, 1980 and 1995) and 4 domestic cups (1980, 1987, 1993 and 1994). The Stevnsgade women's team has won the Danish Cup 6 times. History 1958–73: The early years The club was founded at the local school ( Stevnsgade Skole) by teachers and students 5 May 1958. Sandra Lind Þrastardóttir (born 14 June 1996) is an Icelandic former basketball player and a former member of the Icelandic national basketball team. During her career, she won both the Icelandic and Danish championship along with the Icelandic and Danish Basketball Cup. Playing career Sandra came up through the junior ranks of Keflavík and played her first senior game during the 2011-2012 season. She helped the club win the Icelandic Basketball Cup and the Icelandic championship in 2013. Joy Burke
Joy Marie Burke (born November 7, 1990), also known by her Chinese name Bao Hsi-le (), is a Taiwanese-American collegiate and professional basketball player. Burke played college basketball for the Arizona State University. Following graduation she has played professionally overseas for the Hørsholm 79ers, Bendigo Spirit, and in 2015 she made her national team debut as a member of the Chinese Taipei women's national basketball team. Zarko Jukić ( sh, Žarko Jukić; born 28 July 1993) is a Danish professional basketball player and a member of the Danish national team. Daniel Andreas Mortensen (born 21 October 1994) is a Danish basketball player for Grindavík of the Icelandic Úrvalsdeild karla and the Denmark national team. The Kvindebasketligaen is the premier championship for women's basketball clubs in Denmark. It was created in 1971, and it is currently contested by eight teams. SISU Basketball Klub is a Danish basketball club from Gentofte, Copenhagen founded in 1954. It takes its name from the Finnish term ''Sisu''. It is the oldest basketball club in Denmark.
