Høle Church
Høle Church ( no, Høle kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in the large Sandnes Municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Høle in the central part of the municipality. It is the church for the Høle parish which is part of the Sandnes prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Stavanger. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1860 using designs by the architect Georg Andreas Bull. The church seats about 230 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1270, but it was not new that year. The medieval stave church stood at Høle until 1616 when it was torn down. A new timber-framed church was constructed on the same site soon afterwards. In 1814, this church served as an election church ( no, valgkirke). Sandnes () is a city and municipality in Rogaland, Norway. It lies immediately south of Stavanger, the 4th largest city in Norway and together, the Stavanger/Sandnes area is the third-largest urban area in Norway. Timber-framed
Timber framing (german: Holzfachwerk) and "post-and-beam" construction are traditional methods of building with heavy timbers, creating structures using squared-off and carefully fitted and joined timbers with joints secured by large wooden pegs.
