Höch Gumme
The Höch Gumme (2,205 m) is a mountain of the Emmental Alps in Switzerland. It lies to the east of the Brienzer Rothorn and Arnihaaggen, and the west of the Wilerhorn and Brünig Pass. The '' Schönbüel'' cable car station (2,011 m) is on its eastern flank. Administratively, the summit is shared between the municipalities of Giswil, to the north-west, Lungern to the east, and Hofstetten bei Brienz, to the south. Giswil is a municipality in the canton of Obwalden in Switzerland. History Giswil is first mentioned in the 11th century, as ''Kisevilare''. Geography The municipality is located on the southern end of Lake Sarnen. Canton Of Obwalden
Obwalden, also Obwald (german: Kanton Obwalden, rm, Chantun Sursilvania; french: Canton d'Obwald; it, Canton Obvaldo), is one of the 26 cantons forming the Swiss Confederation. Hofstetten Bei Brienz
Hofstetten bei Brienz is a municipality in the Interlaken-Oberhasli administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. Origin of the name Hofstetten (Swiss German "Hostet") comes from the Old High German ''hovastat'', meaning "place where a building will be started." History Hofstetten bei Brienz is first mentioned as ''Hofstetten'' when it was donated to Interlaken Abbey in 1359. It remained under the Abbey's authority until Bern adopted the Protestant Reformation and secularized the Abbey and all its land in 1528. The local economy relied on small scale agriculture and seasonal alpine herding into the 19th century, when wood carving began to provide other jobs. Lungern is a municipality in the canton of Obwalden in Switzerland. It encompasses Lake Lungern and, besides the village of Lungern, the settlements of Bürglen, Kaiserstuhl and Obsee.
