''The Tough Ones'' () is a 1999 Finnish film directed by Aleksi Mäkelä. It was Finland's official Best Foreign Language Film submission at the 72nd Academy Awards, but did not manage to receive a nomination.* Plot The film starts when Jussi Murikka (Samuli Edelmann), Antti Karhu (Juha Veijonen) and Heikki Grönberg (Teemu Lehtilä) rob a bank together. Antti and Jussi are sent to prison, and five years later they return home. Heikki also returns to Kauhava, as police officer. Antti and Jussi continue their lives as they did before, being violent and committing crimes. Heikki tries to help them, but gets between his old friends and citizens, who try to get rid of the duo. Antti tries few times to change his life, but he fails. The duo starts to sell home made alcohol together with Antti's grandfather, who has been selling it to the citizens for years. Teemu Aleksi Lehtilä (born 27 November 1966, in Kokemäki) is a Finland, Finnish actor. He studied in the Department of Acting at the University of Tampere and graduated in 1990. He has acted in the Municipal Theatre of Jyväskylä and Tampere Theatre (including the role of Romeo in Shakespeare's ''Romeo and Juliet'') as well as for television, where he is best known as narcissist and antagonist Aaro Vaalanne in the Finnish soap opera ''Salatut elämät''. He acted in ''Salatut elämät'' during the production period 2004–2006 and returned to the series from spring 2007 to summer 2009, when he also played the character of Eero Vanala, Aaro's twin brother, as well as the role of Eero and Aaro's father. Samuli Casimir Edelmann (born 21 July 1968) is a Finnish actor and singer. Family and career Edelmann was born in Pori, Finland, the son of actress Marja-Leena Kouki and composer Toni Edelmann. Edelmann has two children with his wife, Laura Tuomarila. In the spring of 2006 Samuli Edelmann and his family moved to Malta, and in the late of 2015 Edelmann and his family moved back to Finland. Actor Edelmann graduated from the Theatre Academy of Finland in 1991. Before he graduated, he had already acted in the three movies: ''Talvisota'' and two ''Vääpeli Körmy'' movies. This is a list of submissions to the 72nd Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film was created in 1956 by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to honour non- English-speaking films produced outside the United States. The award is handed out annually, and is accepted by the winning film's director, although it is considered an award for the submitting country as a whole. Countries are invited by the Academy to submit their best films for competition according to strict rules, with only one film being accepted from each country. For the 72nd Academy Awards, the Academy invited 75 countries to submit films for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. The submission deadline was set on November 1, 1999. Finland has submitted thirty-five films for consideration in the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film category. The Award is handed out annually by the United States Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. Kari Kyösti Väänänen (born 17 September 1953 in Ivalo) is a Finnish actor and director. Domestically he is a member of the Ryhmäteatteri group of actors. He was introduced to international audiences by Aki Kaurismäki, and belongs to the list of his "trusted" stable of actors. Väänänen has acted in more than 60 movies.
