Hysni Milloshi
Hysni Milloshi (26 January 1946 – 25 April 2012) was the founder and General Secretary of the Communist Party of Albania, successor to the Party of Labor of Albania. Biography Milloshi was born in Macukull, Mat District, Albania, on January 26, 1946. During communist rule, Milloshi, who was a member of the Party of Labour, was a writer and a somewhat obscure figure. He established the "Enver Hoxha" Voluntary Activists' Union, an organization loyal to the principles and policies of Enver Hoxha, at Berat on 22 February 1991, apparently with the backing of some leading hard-liners in the Party of Labour. The organization waged a prominent and vocal struggle to prevent the unraveling of communist rule. Milloshi was also a modest author and poet.He died in Tirana's "Senatorium" hospital, on April 25, 2012, after struggling with pulmonary fibrosis. Communist Party Of Albania (1991)
The Communist Party of Albania ( sq, Partia Komuniste e Shqipërisë, PKSh) is an anti-revisionist Marxist–Leninist communist party in Albania. The party was formed in 1991, as a split from the Party of Labour of Albania which converted itself into the Socialist Party of Albania. It upholds Enver Hoxha and Hoxhaism. The party was led by Hysni Milloshi until his death in 2012. Nexhmije Hoxha, Enver Hoxha's wife, was a member of the party. History On 16 July 1992, the Albanian parliament voted to ban the party and its newspaper. A law that took effect in June allowed leaders of political parties, members of parliament and government ministers to keep weapons and as the party was banned, its leader Hysni Milloshi was arrested on 22 July 1992 for illegal weapons possession. Edi Rama
Edi Rama (born Edvin Kristaq Rama, 4 July 1964) is an Albanian politician, painter, writer, former university lecturer, publicist and former basketball player, who has served as the 33rd and current Prime Minister of Albania since 2013 and chairman of the Socialist Party of Albania since 2005. Prior to his tenure as Prime Minister, Rama held a number of positions. He was appointed Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports in 1998, an office he held until 2000. First elected mayor of Tirana in 2000, he was reelected in 2003 and 2007. Hoxhaism () is a variant of anti-revisionist Marxism–Leninism that developed in the late 1970s due to a split in the anti-revisionist movement, appearing after the ideological dispute between the Chinese Communist Party and the Party of Labour of Albania in 1978. The ideology is named after Enver Hoxha, a notable Albanian communist leader, who served as the First Secretary of the Party of Labour. Overview Hoxhaism demarcates itself by a strict defense of the legacy of Joseph Stalin, the organization of the Soviet Union under Stalinism, and fierce criticism of virtually all other communist groupings as revisionist—it defines currents such as Eurocommunism as anti-communist movements. Anti-revisionism is a position within Marxism–Leninism which emerged in the 1950s in opposition to the reforms of Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev. Where Khrushchev pursued an interpretation that differed from his predecessor Joseph Stalin, the anti-revisionists within the international communist movement remained dedicated to Stalin's ideological legacy and criticized the Soviet Union under Khrushchev and his successors as state capitalist and social imperialist. The term Stalinism is also used to describe these positions, but it is often not used by its supporters who opine that Stalin simply synthesized and practiced orthodox Marxism and Leninism. Stalinism is the means of governing and Marxist-Leninist policies implemented in the Soviet Union from 1927 to 1953 by Joseph Stalin. 2011 Albanian Local Elections
The Albanian local elections of 2011 took place on 8 May 2011 in Albania. Electors were asked to elect their municipality's mayor, municipal council members, municipal unit mayor, and municipal unit members. The elections were administrated by the Central Election Commission of Albania. Only 9 of the 384 winning candidates were women. Lulzim Basha
Lulzim Basha (; born 12 June 1974) is an Albanian politician who served as the chairman of the Democratic Party of Albania, the main opposition party, from 2013 to March 21, 2022 when he stepped down from the leadership of the party. Basha was elected as chairman of the Democratic Party of Albania in September 2013 following the Democratic Party's electoral loss which sent them in the opposition. In 2021, he became the first opposition leader in Albanian history to lose two general elections in a row, although Basha claimed the losses came as a result of significant electoral interference by the ruling Socialist Party.
