''Hymns II – Shine on Us'' is a studio album by Christian recording artist Michael W. Smith. It was released exclusively at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store on January 29, 2016. This is Smith's second hymns album and second release with Cracker Barrel. In the US the album is also available digitally on iTunes and Amazon. Critical reception ''Hymns II – Shine on Us'' was met with positive reviews. Caitlin Lassiter of New Release Today rated the album with four stars out of five, stating that "With Hymns II: Shine On Us, Michael W. Nathan Nockels
Nathaniel Edward "Nathan" Nockels (born June 8, 1973) is an American singer-songwriter and worship leader, who is a producer, songwriter, and composer of sacred music. He has received seven GMA Dove Awards, for his production. Nockels and his wife, Christy, were members of the worship-duo, Watermark. Early and personal life Nockels was born, Nathaniel Edward Nockels, Work ID No. 310489942 ISWC No. T0710570845 on June 8, 1973, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is a graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University. Nockels first came in contact with Christy Nockels, while they were attending the Christian Artists Seminar in 1993, where it was hosted in Estes Park, Colorado, and they would eventually marry in 1995. America The Beautiful
"America the Beautiful" is a patriotic American song. Its lyrics were written by Katharine Lee Bates and its music was composed by church organist and choirmaster Samuel A. Ward at Grace Episcopal Church in Newark, New Jersey. The two never met. Bates wrote the words as a poem originally entitled "Pikes Peak". It was first published in the Fourth of July 1895 edition of the church periodical, ''The Congregationalist''. It was at that time that the poem was first entitled "America". Ward had initially composed the song's melody in 1882 to accompany lyrics to "Materna", basis of the hymn, " O Mother dear, Jerusalem", though the hymn was not first published until 1892. Bernard of Clairvaux, O. Cist. ( la, Bernardus Claraevallensis; 109020 August 1153), venerated as Saint Bernard, was an abbot, mystic, co-founder of the Knights Templars, and a major leader in the reformation of the Benedictine Order through the nascent Cistercian Order. O Sacred Head, Now Wounded
"O Sacred Head, Now Wounded" is a Christian Passion hymn based on a Latin text written during the Middle Ages. Paul Gerhardt wrote a German version which is known by its incipit, "O Haupt voll Blut und Wunden". Text Original Latin The hymn is based on a long medieval Latin poem, ''Salve mundi salutare'', with stanzas addressing the various parts of Christ's body hanging on the Cross. The last part of the poem, from which the hymn is taken, is addressed to Christ's head, and begins "Salve caput cruentatum". The poem is often attributed to Bernard of Clairvaux (1091–1153), but is now attributed to the medieval poet Arnulf of Leuven (died 1250).
