Ahn Hye-jin (, born July 23, 1995), known professionally by her stage name Hwasa (), is a South Korean singer, rapper, and television personality currently signed to RBW. She debuted as a member of the girl group Mamamoo in 2014. She made her debut as a solo artist in February 2019, with the digital single " Twit". Early life Ahn Hye-jin was born on July 23, 1995, in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do, South Korea, where she lived with her parents and two elder sisters. She graduated from Wonkwang Information Arts High School. Hwasa often cites Beyoncé as her music inspiration, when she opened up in an interview and said that after hearing someone say that she is unique and good at singing but is fat and not pretty, she went home and watched videos of Beyoncé performing all night. ''María'' is the debut extended play by South Korean singer and Mamamoo member Hwasa. It was released on June 29, 2020, through RBW. The EP was supported by two singles: the lead single " Twit", which reached number one in South Korea, and the title track "María". For María, Hwasa recorded 5 new tracks including two collaborations: "Kidding" with rapper Zico and "I'm bad too" featuring DPR live. The album was co-written and produced by Hwasa alongside Park Woo-sang and other exclusive producers. She stated that the album "is like a diary that contains the emotions she felt as a 24-year-old". Twit (song)
"Twit" (, literally "dimwit") is the debut solo single by South Korean singer Hwasa. It was released on February 13, 2019 by RBW. Written by Hwasa, Kim Do-hoon and Park Woo-sang, who are also the producers of the song. The music video has nearly 100 million views, making it the third most popular Korean music video by a female soloist in 2019. Composition "Twit" was co-written and co-produced by Hwasa with Kim Do-hoon and Park Woo-sang. Tamar Herman from ''Billboard'' described the song as "a bouncing pop melody, which features chirpy trap beats and tropical house elements as the artist switches between chanting raps and her soaring, powerful vocals." ''Hyena on the Keyboard'' () was a South Korean variety show on KBS2. It is a music reality television show whereby the process of song production from various producers/singer-songwriters is shown. Mamamoo (, stylized in all caps) is a South Korean girl group formed by RBW (formerly WA Entertainment) in 2014, composed of four members: Solar, Moonbyul, Wheein and Hwasa. Refund Sisters () is a seasonal South Korean supergroup formed on the MBC variety show ''Hangout with Yoo''. The group is a spin-off of SSAK3 – another group formed on ''Hangout with Yoo''. They made their debut with the single "Don't Touch Me" on October 10, 2020. History In June 2020, Lee Hyori joked about forming the ideal girl crush girl group with herself, Jessi, Uhm Jung-hwa, and MAMAMOO's Hwasa.
