Huw Lloyd-Langton
Richard Hugh "Huw" Lloyd-Langton (6 February 1951 – 6 December 2012) was an English musician, best known as the guitarist for the rock band HawkwindStrong, Martin C. (2003) ''The Great Rock Discography'', Canongate, , p. 466 at various times. He also had his own band, The Lloyd Langton Group, and was the session lead guitarist for UK band The Meads of Asphodel. Biography Lloyd-Langton was born in Harlesden, north west London. As a member of Hawkwind he appeared on their first album, ''Hawkwind'', before leaving the band. He played guitar for Widowmaker, Budgie, and Leo Sayer during the 1970s, then rejoined Hawkwind in 1979, appearing on the ''Live Seventy Nine'' album release from that year and the subsequent ''Levitation'' album. He continued performing with Hawkwind until 1988, after which he made occasional guest appearances, then rejoined for a brief spell in 2001-2002 until ill health (Legionnaires' disease) forced him to leave once more. Monsters Of Rock
Monsters of Rock was an annual hard rock and heavy metal music festival held in Castle Donington, England, from 1980 to 1996, taking place every year except 1989 and 1993. It later branched into other locations such as the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Sweden, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, the United States, and the Soviet Union. History In 1980, promoter Paul Loasby, along with Maurice Jones, planned a one-day festival dedicated specifically for bands within the hard rock and heavy metal genre. Loasby was an established and successful promoter working that year on the Rainbow UK tour and penned the festival as the final show of the tour for the band to headline. Church Of Hawkwind
''Church of Hawkwind'' is the twelfth studio album by Hawkwind, released under the band name Church of Hawkwind in 1982. The name change reflects the fact that this was a musical departure for the band, being a more experimental electronic offering rather than the usual heavy rock that the band were known for at the time. Dave Brock resurrects the "Dr Technical" alias which he had previously used for production of the band's 1972 hit single "Silver Machine". This is almost a Dave Brock solo album considering the heavy bias towards his work, and none of these tracks were performed live by the band, save "Looking in the Future" which was re-recorded as "Letting in the Past" on '' It is the Business of the Future to be Dangerous''. ''Fresh Blood'' is the second studio album by the English singer-songwriter Steve Swindells. The album was originally released in late 1980 on the label Atco. The album was Swindells' first solo album following his departure from Hawkwind, due to an offer that had been made to him by Atco to make this album. It was produced by Swindells himself, after being unable to afford advances offered by Jim Steinman, Jimmy Iovine, and David Bowie. Bowie would later praise the album, along with ''Messages'' as sounding "pretty good" When the album was released in late 1980, it received positive reviews but failed to chart in the UK. "Shot Down in the Night", and "Turn It On, Turn It Off" were released as singles, but they both also failed to chart. He was later dropped from the label, when it failed to make sufficient sales. Steve Swindells (born 21 November 1952) is an English singer-songwriter, keyboardist, party organizer, club promoter and journalist. Life and career Early life Swindells grew up in the Bath and Bristol area, dropping out of art college to play keyboards with the rock banSquidd(which was put together by drummer and fantasy artist, Rodney Matthews). Relocating to London in 1973 and living in squats, he recorded his debut solo album, '' Messages'' for RCA in 1974. The Xenon Codex
''The Xenon Codex'' is the fifteenth studio album by the English space rock group Hawkwind, released in 1988. It spent two weeks on the UK albums chart peaking at #79. The group's line-up remained unchanged for three years. The album was recorded at Loco Studios, Caerleon and Rockfield Studios, Monmouth in February and March 1988. It was produced with Guy Bidmead, who had previously been Vic Maile's assistant. The lyrics to "The War I Survived" and "Heads" were written by Roger Neville-Neil, who was a Hawkwind fan. "Lost Chronicles" is banded as separate track, but it forms the instrumental middle section of "Neon Skyline". The cover is by Bob Walker, who had also illustrated the inner sleeve for ''The Chronicle of the Black Sword'' and adapted Michael Butterworth's ''Ledge of Darkness'' in graphic novel form. ''Out and Intake'' is a 1987 (see 1987 in music) live/studio album by the English space rock group Hawkwind. The album is compiled from various sources: studio out-takes from 1982; live recordings from 1982's ''Choose Your Masques'' tour; studio out-takes from 1987. Dave Brock stated of the release that "it was bits and pieces we had hanging around, weird things like "Turner Point". Harvey had "Cajun Jinx". It was really just to finance us all and keep the whole thing going". Of the 1987 studio out-takes, there were re-recordings of old tracks: "Ejection" from Robert Calvert's 1974 album ''Captain Lockheed and the Starfighters'', and "Assassins of Allah" (also known as "Hassan-i-Sabbah") from the 1977 album ''Quark, Strangeness and Charm''.
