Huw Garmon
Huw Garmon (born 1966) is a Welsh actor, probably best known for playing the eponymous lead in the Oscar-nominated Welsh language film '' Hedd Wyn'' (1992). He has also taken part in various television series and has currently taken an academic post at Glyndŵr University, combining it with his acting roles. Born in Llangefni in Anglesey, Garmon is the youngest of four sons of the Welsh historian and novelist Richard Cyril Hughes. He obtained a degree in drama studies from Aberystwyth University. Although he is best known for Welsh language roles, he has also appeared on English language television, notably in '' Cadfael'' with Derek Jacobi, as well as having parts in a number of films. These included Hedd Wyn (1992), in which Garmon starred and which was the first Welsh film to be nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards. Llangefni
Llangefni (meaning "church on the River Cefni", ) is the county town of Anglesey in Wales and contains the principal offices of the Isle of Anglesey County Council. United Kingdom Census 2011 recorded Llangefni's population as 5,116 people, making it the second largest settlement in the county. The community includes the village of Rhosmeirch. Cool Cymru ( cy, Cŵl Cymru) was a Welsh cultural movement in music and independent film in the 1990s and 2000s, led by the popularity of bands such as Stereophonics, Gorky's Zygotic Mynci, Manic Street Preachers, Catatonia and Super Furry Animals. Etymology and usage The term ''Cool Cymru'' (Cymru is the Welsh name for Wales) derived as a Welsh alternative to ''Cool Britannia'' (itself a pun on the British patriotic song "Rule, Britannia!"). ''Rownd a Rownd'' ( en, "Round and Round") is a Welsh soap opera created by Rondo Media (formally Ffilmiau’r Nant) and shown on S4C since 11 September 1995. It was claimed to be the first Celtic-related language soap specifically directed at a youth audience. It is set in the fictional harbour town of Glanrafon in Anglesey. At its inception, the soap was targeted towards an adolescent and young adult audience, but it now has broadened its appeal to all age groups. Beginning with a small cast of characters, the serial now has upwards of forty cast members. The soap is consistently in the top 20 most watched programmes of the week on S4C, the show currently averaging around twenty thousand viewers per episode.
