Hutchinson Family Singers
The Hutchinson Family Singers were an American family singing group who became the most popular American entertainers of the 1840s. The group sang in four-part harmony a repertoire of political, social, comic, sentimental and dramatic works, and are considered by many to be the first uniquely American popular music performers. The group formed in the wake of a string of successful tours by Austrian singing groups such as the Tyrolese Minstrels and when American newspapers were demanding the cultivation of native talent. John Hutchinson orchestrated the group's formation with his brothers Asa, Jesse, and Judson Hutchinson in 1840; the Hutchinsons (11 sons, two daughters) gave their first performance on November 6 of that same year. Chad Hutchinson
Chad Martin Hutchinson (born February 21, 1977) is a former American football quarterback in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears. He also is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals. He played college football at Stanford University. Early life Hutchinson started practicing American football, football late in his life as a freshman in Torrey Pines High School. He was a two-year starter at outside linebacker that switched to quarterback as a senior, to take advantage of his mobility and arm strength. Frederick Osborne Hutchinson (1867–1941) was a Wales, Welsh international rugby union back row who played club rugby for Maesteg RFC, Maesteg, Bridgend Ravens, Bridgend and Neath RFC, Neath and international rugby for Wales national rugby union team, Wales. Rugby career Hutchinson originally played club rugby for his local team Maesteg RFC, Maesteg, before eventually joining one of the largest clubs in the area, Neath. Fred Hutchinson
Frederick Charles Hutchinson (August 12, 1919 – November 12, 1964) was an American professional baseball player, a major league pitcher for the Detroit Tigers, and the manager for three major league teams. Born and raised in Seattle, Washington, Hutchinson was stricken with fatal lung cancer at the height of his managerial career as leader of the pennant-contending 1964 Cincinnati Reds. He was commemorated one year after his death when his surgeon brother, Dr. William Hutchinson (1909–1997), created the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, as a division of the Pacific Northwest Research Foundation. Francis Hutchinson
Francis Hutchinson (2 January 1660 – 1739) was a British minister in Bury St Edmunds when he wrote a famous book debunking witchcraft prosecutions and subsequently was made Bishop of Down and Connor in Ireland. Education Hutchinson was born in Carsington, Wirksworth, Derbyshire, the second son of Mary and Edward Hutchinson or Hitchinson (a family of the lesser landed gentry). He was taught history by his uncle, Francis Tallents, a Puritan clergyman, before beginning his studies at Katharine Hall, Cambridgein 1678. Hutchinson graduated B.A. in 1681 and M.A. in 1684, a year after he was ordained by the bishop of London and was appointed Lecturer at the rectory of Widdington, Essex. This living represented the lowest rung of the career ladder of the Church of England and Hutchinson remained there until appointed vicar of Hoxne, Suffolk in early 1690 by local Whig magnate, William Maynard. Foster Hutchinson (Canadian Judge)
Foster Hutchinson Jr. (1761-28 November 1815) was a member of the 9th General Assembly of Nova Scotia representing Halifax Township 1806-1811, was appointed to the Nova Scotia Council in 1813, and was appointed a Puisne judge of the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia in 1810. He was the only son of Foster Hutchinson, Sr., the nephew of Governor of Massachusetts Thomas Hutchinson and grandchild of Governor of Nova Scotia Paul Mascarene. He arrived in Halifax from Boston with his father as Loyalists (1776). Hutchinson became a lawyer and worked under Chief Justice Thomas Andrew Lumisden Strange. Sir George Prévost appointed him an Assistant Justice to the Supreme Court (1809). He is buried in the Old Burying Ground (Halifax, Nova Scotia). Life He was born on November 3, 1871, in Johnstown, Fulton County, New York, the son of S. G. Hutchinson and Katherine (Eberly) Hutchinson. He attended Ohio State University, enrolled in 1891 at Harvard College, and graduated A.B. in 1895. He also received an M.E. degree, and became a mining engineer, working in California and Mexico.
