Cyril Hutchens
Cyril Douglas Hutchens CBE (19 February 1904 – 27 March 1982) was an Australian politician who represented the South Australian House of Assembly seat of Hindmarsh from 1950 to 1970 for the Labor Party. He was Commissioner of Public Works in South Australia from 1965 to 1968. Frank Hutchens
Francis Hutchens OBE (15 January 1892 – 18 October 1965) was a pianist, music teacher and composer originally from New Zealand. He became a popular concert pianist in Australia and was a founding member of the New South Wales Conservatorium of Music, where he taught for fifty years. Early life and education Hutchens' parents, Richard Lavers Hutchens and his wife Maria Giles, née Hosking, both Cornish, migrated to New Zealand in 1879. Richard tried his hand at farming and bootmaking before settling down at Hāwera as a piano teacher. Frank Hutchens was born in Leeston near Christchurch on 15 January 1892. He attended Hawera District High School. In 1904, at the age of twelve, Hutchens had the opportunity to demonstrate his talents after his piano teacher arranged for him to play for the virtuoso Ignaz Paderewski, who was then touring New Zealand. Harry Hutchens
Harry Hutchens (born Henry Hutchins, 27 February 1858 – 2 January 1939) was a professional British runner. Hutchens became a messenger at Putney railway station at 14 and soon discovered he was a fast runner. He became a professional in 1876. Hutchens died poor and in obscurity in 1939 but received an obituary from ''The New York Times''. Athletic career In 1920, American Olympic champion and writer Ellery Harding Clark declared that Harry Hutchens was "the greatest sprinter the world had ever seen." Hutchens is regarded by many observers as the greatest sprinter of the 19th century. Hutchens always ran from a standing start and set nine professional world records in all. Paul Hutchens
Paul Hutchens (April 7, 1902, Thorntown, Indiana – January 23, 1977, Colorado Springs, Colorado) was an American author. In addition to writing The Sugar Creek Gang, a series of 36 Christian-themed juvenile fiction books about the adventures of a group of young boys, he also wrote numerous adult fiction books, many with a romance theme. The author was a graduate of Moody Bible Institute. The Sugar Creek Gang books have been popular in evangelical Christian homes and have remained in print through multiple format and cover art changes. The books have also been dramatized on the radio, and in 2004, the stories were made into a series of movies, directed by Joy Chapman and Owen Smith. His books were originally published by Wm. B. Sandra Hutchens
Sandra Sue Hutchens (March 18, 1955 – January 4, 2021) was an American law enforcement officer who was the Sheriff-Coroner of Orange County, California. She was appointed to the position on June 10, 2008, replacing acting sheriff Jack Anderson, who had led the department since the January 14, 2008 resignation of Mike Carona. Prior to her appointment, she was retired from the position of division chief within the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Hutchens was elected in 2010 and re-elected in 2014. Hutchens Device
The Hutchens device is a device for protecting race car drivers in the event of an accident by controlling head movement, reducing head and neck injuries due to whiplash. It consists of a series of straps, attached to the helmet and connected across the chest and at the waist, depending on the lap belt for anchoring. The device was developed beginning in 2000. From 2001 until 2004 NASCAR mandated that drivers use either the Hutchens device or the HANS device. NASCAR banned the use of the Hutchens device in January 2005 and forced all drivers to use the HANS device instead. Description The Hutchens device was developed by engineer Trevor Ashline. It was named after Bobby Hutchens, who also helped develop the product. The Hutchens
The Hutchens was an American country music trio from Sandy Ridge, North Carolina composed of brothers Barry, Bill and Bryan Hutchens. They were signed to Atlantic Records and released their debut album, ''Knock, Knock'', in 1995. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of Allmusic gave the album three stars out of five, writing that it "showcases their laid-back country-rock to a fine effect." Its lead single, the title track, peaked at number 56 on the ''Billboard'' Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart.
