Hussainiwala Railway Station
Hussainiwala railway station is a railway station in Firozpur district in Punjab state, India. History It was established during the partition of India and Pakistan. It was located near the Irrigation department workshop. However, over time the station has ceased to exist and only a Pipal tree remains as a symbol of its historical importance. It served as the Gateway to Lahore. The railway track that runs along the station was first used for train travel in 1885 when a journey between Ferozepur and Kasur (now in Pakistan) en route to Peshawar was completed. Presently, the track is used only twice a year for special events. The Ferozepur-Hussainiwala rail track was a hub of trade and military activities in the past, with hundreds of people from nearby towns like Kasur, Lahore and Ferozepur disembarking at the station to work in the workshop. Hussainiwala is a village near Firozpur city in Firozpur district in Punjab state, India. It lies near the bank of the Sutlej river. The village is on the border with Pakistan, opposite the Pakistani village of Ganda Singh Wala. It is a border crossing between India and Pakistan that is currently closed, however a daily joint beating retreat border ceremony is held by the two nations. Hussainiwala National Martyrs Memorial
Hussainiwala National Martyrs Memorial () in memory of the Indian freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar and Shivaram Rajguru, is at Hussainiwala village, near Firozpur city in Firozpur district of the Punjab, India. A daily ''flag lowering ceremony'', similar to the Wagah-Attari border ceremony is also held here jointly by the Indian and Pakistani armed forces. Martyrs Memorial The memorial marks the location on the banks of the Sutlej river where Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru were cremated on 23 March 1931. After they were hanged in the Lahore Central Jail,the back wall was broken by the jail authorities and their bodies were secretly brought to this memorial and cremated without any ceremony.The BSF has showcased the pistol with which Bhagat Singh killed British officer Saunders. Martyrs' Day (India)
In India, there are seven days declared as Martyrs' Day (at national level also known as Sarvodaya day). They are named in honour of those who are recognised as martyrs for the nation. Recently Bihar government has announced to celebrate 15 February as Martyrs Day in the memory of 34 freedom fighters killed by the police in munger in 1932. National observance 30 January 30 January is the date observed in the national level. The date was chosen as it marks the assassination of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi in 1948, by Nathuram Godse. Sutlej River
The Sutlej or Satluj River () is the longest of the five rivers that flow through the historic crossroads region of Punjab in northern India and Pakistan. The Sutlej River is also known as ''Satadru''. It is the easternmost tributary of the Indus River. The 12137 / 12138 Punjab Mail is a Mail train of Indian Railways – Central Railway zone that runs between Mumbai and Ferozpur in India. It operates as train number 12137 from Mumbai CST to Ferozpur and as train number 12138 in the reverse direction.
