The name Kristy has been used for one tropical cyclone in the Atlantic Ocean, and eight tropical cyclones in the Eastern Pacific Ocean. It was used in the Atlantic once before the modern naming system was instituted in 1979. The 1971 Atlantic hurricane season was fairly active with several notable storms. Hurricane Edith (1971), Hurricane Edith, the strongest of the Atlantic hurricane season, season, was a List of Category 5 Atlantic hurricanes, Category 5 on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale, Saffir-Simpson scale, the highest category on the scale, even though it was the least intense for that category on record, at 943 mbar.
