Hurricane Harbor
Hurricane Harbor is a chain of water parks that are part of the Six Flags theme park chain. Although the parks are not identical, common features include a variety of body slides, speed slides, tube slides, wave pools, lazy rivers, and shopping areas. History Six Flags began using the Hurricane Harbor brand in 1995 with the opening of Six Flags Hurricane Harbor adjacent to Six Flags Magic Mountain. That same year, Wet 'n Wild in Arlington, Texas, was purchased by Six Flags. It operated as Wet 'n Wild — A Six Flags Park in 1995-1996 then was rebranded as Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in 1997. The brand has since become a trademark of the Six Flags franchise. In 1999, Six Flags St. Louis was the first Six Flags park to construct its own intra-park water attractions section. Anthony Frank Hawk (born May 12, 1968), nicknamed Birdman, is an American professional skateboarder, entrepreneur, and the owner of the skateboard company Birdhouse. Antonio Zamperla S.p.A. is an Italian design and manufacturing company founded in 1966. It is best known for creating family rides, thrill rides and roller coasters worldwide. The company also makes smaller coin-operated rides commonly found inside shopping malls. Zamperla builds roller coasters, like the powered Dragon Coaster, Mini Mouse, Zig Zag, and Volare. A water slide (also referred to as a flume, or water chute) is a type of slide designed for warm-weather or indoor recreational use at water parks. Water slides differ in their riding method and therefore size. Some slides require riders to sit directly on the slide, or on a raft or tube designed to be used with the slide. A typical water slide uses a pump system to pump water to the top which is then allowed to freely flow down its surface. The water reduces friction so sliders travel down the slide very quickly. Alpine Freefalls is a water slide complex manufactured by ProSlide, currently operating since June 2, 2012, at Six Flags Great Escape and Hurricane Harbor in Queensbury, New York. The complex features 2 slides, ''Twisted Racer'' (a KrakenRacer) and ''Cliffhanger'' (a speed slide). History On August 22, 2011, ''Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & White Water Bay'' announce on their Facebook page that there is going to be a big surprise for their loyal fans of the lodge on Thursday September 1, 2011. Kidzopolis
Kidzopolis is a themed kid's area with various rides at several Six Flags amusement parks. It opened in 2011 at Six Flags Great America, Six Flags New England, and Six Flags Fiesta Texas after being re-themed from Wiggles World. Six Flags Great Escape also had a version of the area, but it was transformed into an expansion of the Hurricane Harbor waterpark in 2019. Tornado (ProSlide Ride)
The Tornado is a water slide manufactured by ProSlide Technology. It requires riders to sit in a 2-6 seater round tube. Riders drop from inside a tunnel out into the ride's main element shaped like a funnel on its side. Riders oscillate from one side to the other until they exit through the back of the funnel and into a splash pool. Many of the slides feature a conveyor belt to bring the rafts to the top. On April 13, 2012 it was announced the first six-person Tornado would be built using Hydromagnetic technology.
