Huntly F.C.
Huntly Football Club are a senior football club, currently playing in the Highland League in Scotland. The club was founded in 1928 and plays at Christie Park in Huntly. History Huntly F.C. was formed in 1928. They were unanimously accepted to the Highland League at the league's AGM in June 1928. The club entered the league in season 1928–29 and the first game was against Inverness Thistle on Saturday 25 August 1928. In only its second league campaign, Huntly became only the third team outside Inverness to win the league, finishing two points ahead of closest rivals Elgin City and Inverness Thistle. However, the club would have to wait 64 years for another championship win and to a lot of supporters the greatest moment in the club's history. The club then won the Highland League in a record five successive seasons between 1993 and 1998. Christie Park is a association football, football ground in the town of Huntly in the north-east of Scotland. It is the home ground of Highland Football League side Huntly F.C. It is located on East Park Street in the north-east of the town and has a capacity of 2,200 with 270 seated. History The ground was previously known as Strathbogie Park from 1921 when it opened, until 1926 when it was renamed Christie Park. The ground takes its name from former Provost Christie who acquired the ground and donated it to the football club on the condition that they remained amateur. This was agreed by the club, who subsequently renamed the ground in Christie's honour. Huntly ( gd, Srath Bhalgaidh or ''Hunndaidh'') is a town in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, formerly known as Milton of Strathbogie or simply Strathbogie. It had a population of 4,460 in 2004 and is the site of Huntly Castle. Its neighbouring settlements include Keith and Rothiemay. Both Huntly and the surrounding district of Gordon are named for a town and family that originated in the Border country. Huntly is the historic home of the Gordon Highlanders regiment which traditionally recruited throughout the North-East of Scotland. Huntly has a primary school (Gordon Primary) and a secondary school ( The Gordon Schools) beside Huntly Castle. It is the home of the Deans bakers, which produce shortbread biscuits. Aberdeenshire And District League
The Aberdeenshire and District League, usually known as the Aberdeenshire League, is a football tournament for clubs in membership of the Aberdeenshire and District Football Association. The clubs are drawn from the historic counties of Aberdeenshire and Banffshire. Historically, clubs from Moray and Angus also competed. The competition began in 1919 as the North Eastern League and renamed in 1921. It ran until the end of season 1952–53 when it was disbanded due to clubs' priorities being primarily on the Highland League. The North and South Region Challenge Cups are regional senior non-league competitions run by the Scottish Football Association. The southern tournament is open to full member non-league clubs in the south of the country, while similar stipulations applied to its northern counterpart. Scottish Qualifying Cup
The Scottish Qualifying Cup was a football competition played in Scotland between 1895 and 2007. During that time, apart from a brief spell in the 1950s, it was the only way for non-league teams to qualify for the Scottish Cup. The Qualifying Cup was open to all full member clubs of the Scottish Football Association, who were not members of the Scottish Premier League or Scottish Football League.
