Catfish Hunter
James Augustus Hunter (April 8, 1946 – September 9, 1999), nicknamed "Catfish", was a professional baseball player in Major League Baseball (MLB). From to , he was a pitcher for the Kansas City/Oakland Athletics and New York Yankees. Hunter was the first pitcher since to win 200 games by age 31. He is often referred to as baseball's first big-money free agent, and was a member of five World Series championship teams. Hunter retired at age 33 following the 1979 season, after developing persistent arm problems, and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1987. He was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, in his early 50s, and died of the disease about a year after his diagnosis. Brian Lee Hunter (born March 25, 1971) is a former center fielder in Major League Baseball. At 6'4" and around 180 lbs, he was known for stealing over 70 bases in 1997. Minor league career Hunter was born on March 25, 1971 in Portland, Oregon. He graduated from Fort Vancouver High School in Vancouver, Washington. Hunter, who threw and batted right-handed, was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 2nd round (35th Overall) of the 1989 amateur draft. Hunter spent a little over five and a half seasons in the minor leagues. He began his pro career with the Gulf Coast League Astros in 1989. Arthur Hunter (April 24, 1933 – December 25, 2009) was an American football tackle who played twelve seasons in the National Football League (NFL), mainly for the Los Angeles Rams. Notre Dame years At Notre Dame he played under head coach Frank Leahy who was the former line coach for the Seven Blocks of Granite and played shoulder-to-shoulder with guard Menil Mavraides, center Jim Schrader, and fullback Neil Worden as the main blockers for Heisman Trophy winning running back Johnny Lattner.
