Hunt's Pier
Hunt's Pier was an amusement pier located along the Wildwood, New Jersey, boardwalk from 1957 through 1985. Over its nearly 30 years in operation, Hunt's was home to many classic dark rides, roller coasters, and other attractions. History Hunt's Pier dates back to the early 1900s when it was known as Ocean Pier, the first major pier on the boardwalk. Home to ballroom dancing and musical acts, Ocean Pier was purchased by William Hunt in 1935 and converted to an amusement park with rides, including a Ferris wheel, a roller coaster, and a dark ride. On Christmas Day 1943, Ocean Pier burned down. Hunt built a new, all-concrete pier in its place. On May 30, 1957, Memorial Day, the revamped Hunt's Pier opened. The amusement park began with only four rides, though it boasted 10 rides by the time of its grand opening on June 21, 1957. Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters (PTC) is one of the oldest existing roller coaster manufacturing companies in the world. Based in Hatfield, Pennsylvania, it was established in 1904 by Henry Auchey and Chester Albright under the name Philadelphia Toboggan Company. The company manufactured carousels, wooden roller coasters, toboggans (roller coaster cars) and later, roller coaster trains. Historic Cold Spring Village
Historic Cold Spring Village is a non-profit living history museum in the Cold Spring section of Lower Township in Cape May County, New Jersey. The village was listed as the Historic Cold Spring Village Historic District on the New Jersey Register of Historic Places on September 27, 2016. The Village consists of 27 historic buildings relocated from around Cape May County, several of which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. There are two entrances, one at 735 Seashore Road and the other at 720 US Route 9. The Cold Spring Grange Hall, listed in 1998, located at the Seashore Road entrance, serves as the Cold Spring Grange Restaurant. With Cold Spring Village is home to Cold Spring Brewery, the only non-profit craft brewery in New Jersey. Black Diamond (roller Coaster)
Black Diamond is a roller coaster at Knoebels' Amusement Resort in Elysburg, Pennsylvania. The ride has a steel track on a wooden frame. The roller coaster originally opened in 1960 as the Golden Nugget in Hunt's Pier, and it eventually became part of Morey's Piers in Wildwood, New Jersey, where it operated until 1999 and stood until 2008-early 2009. The ride was relocated to Knoebels and reopened on October 8, 2011, as Black Diamond. History The Golden Nugget Mine Ride opened in July 1960 at Hunt's Pier on the newly constructed ocean side portion. Elysburg is a census-designated place (CDP) in Ralpho Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is seventy miles north of Harrisburg. The population was 2,194 at the 2010 census. The area's biggest attraction is Knoebels Amusement Resort, which is known for having three wooden roller coasters and free admission. Geography Elysburg is served by Pennsylvania Route 54 and Pennsylvania Route 487. Elysburg's terrain is mostly gently rolling, with some steep hills in the northeastern part of the CDP. Knoebels Amusement Resort () is a family-owned and operated amusement park, picnic grove, and campground in Elysburg, Pennsylvania. Opened in 1926, it is America's largest free-admission park. The park has more than 60 rides including three wooden roller coasters, three steel roller coasters, a 1913 carousel, and a haunted attraction (simulated), haunted house dark ride.
