Humphrey Smith commonly known in his lifetime as "Yankee" Smith (1774 in New Jersey – May 5, 1857 in Clay County, Missouri) was the unofficial founder of the city of Smithville, Missouri, and a remarkable figure in the earliest history of the State of Missouri. Humphrey Smith (MP)
Humphrey Smith (c. 1542 – 15 September, 1589), from London and Cullompton, Devon, was an English politician. Family and education Smith was educated at the Inner Temple in 1556. Later in the year 1586, he married Ursula, who was probably the daughter of Thomas Leveson, probably one of the Leveson of Hornes Place, Kent. They had one son, Walter. Career Smith was a Justice of the Peace for Devon c. 1573–1587 and for Middlesex from c. 1579, probably until his death. He was a bencher in the Inner Temple in 1574, an Autumn reader 1576 or 1577 and a Lent reader in 1587. Smith's patron was probably Francis Russell, 2nd Earl of Bedford. His legal role means he must have been in London the majority of the time, rather than his constituency. Humphrey Smith (died 1663) was an English Quaker preacher. Life Smith probably lived in Little Cowarne, Herefordshire and preached in Andover, Hampshire. He was repeatedly arrested for preaching and wrote most of his books in Winchester gaol. He died of gaol fever (typhus). From the record of the Quaker Burial Ground at Bramshott, Hampshire: "Humphrey Smith who upon the 14th day of the eighth month 1662 was committed to the county goal at Winchester for being at an unlawful meeting at Alton and a ringleader and one of the chief of the Quakers there. TriStar Motorsports was an American professional stock car racing team that used to compete in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. The team competed in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series primarily during the early to mid 1990s, suspending racing operations in 1997 and continuing on as Tri-Star Motors, and later Pro Motor Engines, supplying engines to many NASCAR teams prior to returning to competition in 2010.
