Humboldt Crabs
The Humboldt Crabs are a collegiate summer baseball team located in Arcata, California. Playing in every season since they were founded in 1945 by Lou Bonomini, later joined by Ned Barsuglia, the Crabs are the oldest continually-operated summer collegiate baseball team in American baseball. Through the 2019 season the Crabs have a total record of 2557 wins and 803 losses. The Crabs did not play the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Crabs games are broadcast on KEJB (AM), KEJB 1480 AM, the Humboldt Crabs YouTube Channel, and stats are live on GameChanger App. Most games also include thCrab Grass Band formed in 1983, that play songs in between innings. The West Coast League (WCL) is a collegiate summer baseball wooden bat league founded in 2005, comprising teams from Washington, Oregon, British Columbia and Alberta. The WCL was previously named the West Coast Collegiate Baseball League (WCCBL), but in 2008 renamed as the West Coast League. The league is designed to develop college talent, and only current college-eligible players are allowed to participate. The West Coast League has produced dozens of professional players, including a number of major leaguers. League teams are operated similarly to professional minor-league teams. Redding Browns
The Redding Browns were a minor league baseball team that operated from 1948 to 1951 as part of the Class-D Far West League. They were based in Redding, California. They were affiliated with the St. Louis Browns of the American League and won the league championship in 1950. The Alaska Goldpanners of Fairbanks are a collegiate summer baseball team which was founded in 1960 as an Independent league baseball, independent Barnstorm (sports), barnstorming team. The Goldpanners were charter members of the Alaska Baseball League at the league's inception in 1974. The Owl Drug Company
The Owl Drug Company was an American drugstore retailer with its headquarters in San Francisco. It was a subsidiary of Rexall stores at its peak in the 1920s through 1940s. The company sold medicines and pills, and later ventured into cosmetics, perfumes, and other goods. History The founder of the Owl Drug Company was Richard Elgin Miller, R.E. Miller. The Owl Drug Company was established in 1892 in San Francisco, at 1128 Market Street. In 1903, with their contract with the Whitall Tatum Glass Company, they began making triangular, cobalt-blue bottles of various sizes to store poisons in, which was widely emulated. Portland Rosebuds (baseball)
The Portland Rosebuds, sometimes called the Portland Roses, were a baseball team owned by Jesse Owens. The Rosebuds were part of the West Coast Baseball Association, a Negro league headed by Abe Saperstein, the owner of the Harlem Globetrotters. The Rosebuds played the Seattle Steelheads on their opening day, May 12, 1946 at Dudley Field in El Paso, Texas. They followed opening day with two more days of games in El Paso and one in nearby Ciudad Juárez. The league was disbanded after only two months. Indianapolis Clowns
The Indianapolis Clowns were a professional baseball team in the Negro American League. Tracing their origins back to the 1930s, the Clowns were the last of the Negro league teams to disband, continuing to play exhibition games into the 1980s. The House of David (formally The Israelite House of David) is a religious group founded in Benton Harbor, Michigan, in March 1903. It was co-founded by spouses Benjamin Purnell (1861-1927) and Mary Purnell (1862-1953). The Purnells claimed to be the successors to Joanna Southcott (1750 –1814), an English woman who had built a following as a self-described religious prophetess.
