The Humboldt County School District is a public school district serving K−12 education in Humboldt County, Nevada, in the northwestern part of the state. Its headquarters are in Winnemucca. Paradise Valley, Nevada
Paradise Valley is a census-designated place (CDP) in Humboldt County, Nevada, Humboldt County, Nevada, United States, near the Santa Rosa Ranger District of Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, Humboldt National Forest. It is located at the northern terminus of Nevada State Route 290, about northeast of U.S. Highway 95 and a total of north of Winnemucca, Nevada, Winnemucca. Orovada, Nevada
Orovada is a census-designated place in Humboldt County, Nevada. The population was 155 at the 2010 census. History The first permanent settlement at Orovada was made in 1918. The name is a combination of ''oro'' (Spanish "gold") and Nevada. A post office has been in operation at Orovada since 1920. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the Orovada CDP has an area of , all land. U.S. Route 95 runs through the CDP, leading south to Winnemucca and north to the Oregon state line at McDermitt. Education The Humboldt County School District operates schools serving areas with Orovada addresses. Some areas are zoned to Orovada School, a K-8 school. Other areas are zoned to Kings River School, a K-8 school. In 1954 the Orovada School had 22 students. A new building, designed by Alegre and Hanson and built by A.T. Costa, opened in 1958. Kings River (Nevada)
The Kings River is a tributary of the Quinn River, about long, in northwestern Nevada and south-central Oregon in the United States. It drains a remote arid area of the northwestern Great Basin. Description The river rises in northern Humboldt County, Nevada, west of Disaster Peak in The Granites, part of the Trout Creek Mountains, near the Oregon state line. Flowing northwest, it crosses briefly into Harney County, Oregon, then turns sharply south and re-enters Humboldt County for the rest of its course. It flows generally south between the Bilk Creek Mountains on the right (west) and the Montana Mountains, then the Double H Mountains on the left. Denio is a census-designated place (CDP) in Humboldt County, Nevada, along the Oregon state line in the United States. The Denio post office was originally north of the state line in Harney County, Oregon, but the residents moved the building into Nevada in the mid-20th century. The population of the CDP, which is entirely in Nevada, was 47 at the 2010 census; additional development considered to be Denio extends into Oregon. The CDP includes a post office, a community center, a library, and the Diamond Inn Bar, the center of the town's social life. Recreational activities in the Denio area include bird watching, photography, off road vehicle use, fishing, recreational black opal mining, rockhounding, hunting, visiting the hot springs, and camping on the Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge. McDermitt, Nevada-Oregon
McDermitt is an unincorporated community straddling the Nevada–Oregon border, in Humboldt County, Nevada, and Malheur County, Oregon, United States. McDermitt's economy has historically been based on mining, ranching, and farming. The last mining operation closed in 1990, resulting in a steady decline in population. As of the 2010 census, the combined population was 513. Seventy-five percent of the residents were American Indian, predominantly Northern Paiute of the Fort McDermitt Indian Reservation, whose members include Shoshone people. History The community, originally called Dugout, was named after Fort McDermit. It was named after Lt. Col.
