Humberto Giannini
Humberto Giannini Íñiguez (25 February 1927 – 25 November 2014) was a Chilean philosopher of Italian descent. A disciple and continuator of , he was a member of the Academia Chilena de la Lengua and winner of the National Prize for Humanities and Social Sciences in 1999. Biography The son of Osvaldo Giannini and Olga Íñiguez Maturana, Humberto Giannini was born in San Bernardo, and grew up in Valparaíso. He was the brother of deputy Osvaldo Giannini Iñíguez. Giannini described his studies as "a life a bit uneven". He was thrown out of school because of discipline problems and was a sailor for two years. Then he resumed his studies at a night school and became "a great reader of philosophy." He enrolled at the University of Chile's in 1953, where he would teach beginning in 1958, and where he would become, years later, professor emeritus and director of the UNESCO Chair of Philosophy based in Santiago. San Bernardo () is a city of Chile, part of the Greater Santiago conurbation. Administratively, it is a commune and the capital of the Maipo Province in the Santiago Metropolitan Region. It is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Bernardo. ''Memoria Chilena'' (Spanish for ''Chilean Memory'') is a Chilean cultural website which, according to its own words, "offers investigations and documents related to key topics which make up the Chilean identity, accessible through the areas of history, literature, social sciences, music, and visual arts." Ñuñoa
Ñuñoa (; from Mapudungun ''Ñuñohue'', "place of yellow flowers") is a commune of the Northeastern zone of Santiago, in the Santiago Metropolitan Region of Chile. According to the 2021 Urban Life Quality Index (ICVU), it is considered the fourth best commune to live in the region and the country- The commune has had a significant demographic increase, going from 163,511 inhabitants in 2002 to 208,237 in 2017, increasing by 27.3% in fifteen years, and with an estimate of more than 250,000 inhabitants for the year 2022. It is made up of medium and upper-middle socioeconomic groups. Recently, Ñuñoa's many charms and convenient location have led to an increased desire by young urban professionals to live there. The Jorge Millas Award ( es, Premio Jorge Millas, links=no) was instituted in 1996 to remember the work of the distinguished intellectual (1917–1982), an academic at the University of Chile and dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Austral University of Chile.
