Humber Valley
The Humber Valley is a region in the western part of the island of Newfoundland. The Humber Valley is formed by the Humber River. The upper part of the valley follows the Upper Humber River (upstream from Deer Lake) and contains the communities of Reidville and Cormack. After the river discharges into Deer Lake, the valley broadens to include the entire width of the lake including the town of Deer Lake, as well as the local service districts of St. Jude’s and Pynn’s Brook, and the community of Pasadena. The valley narrows at the western end of the lake where it discharges into the Lower Humber River. This remaining part of the valley includes the local service district of Little Rapids, as well as the Humber Valley Golf Resort which is adjacent to the Marble Mountain Ski Resort, and the community of Steady Brook. Massey Drive
Massey Drive (2021 pop.: 1,606) is a Canadian town located on the west coast of the island of Newfoundland in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Its name is derived from the original road through the town, named Massey Drive, which in turn is named after Vincent Massey, former Governor General of Canada (1952–59). Lark Harbour is small fishing community on the western coast of Newfoundland, on the south side of the Bay of Islands, and west of the City of Corner Brook. Sop's Arm
Sop's Arm is a local service district and designated place in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The community was formed in the 1930s and 1940s by families moving from surrounding communities, including Jackson's Arm. In the 1950s and 1960s families from nearby Sop's Island moved to Sop's Arm, towing their houses across the channel of water. Today, the community of Sop's Arm stretches from the mouth of Main River, a river provincially well known for its salmon fishing and white-water kayaking, north to Schooner's Cove. Traditionally, the economy was based on the cod and salmon fishery, forestry, including sawing lumber and cutting wood for the Corner Brook Pulp and Paper Mill. Humber Arm South is a town in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The town had a population of 1,537 in the Canada 2021 Census. Cox's Cove
Cox's Cove is a town in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The town had a population of 664 in the Canada 2021 Census. The small community is mainly based on the fishery, mink farm, and construction industries. History A fishing and logging community on the south side of Middle Arm in the Bay of Islands, Cox's Cove was originally settled 1840 by Thomas O'Grady and George, John and William Cox, herring and lobster fishermen. The community was also a regular port of call for the northern coastal boats. Cox's Cove was designated a reception centre in 1965 under the first Federal-Provincial Community Consolidation Programme, and from 1965 to 1970 received families from the nearby communities of Penguin Arm and Brakes Cove.
