The Humanist International (also known as the International Humanist Party) is a consortium of political parties adhering to universal humanism (also known as Siloism, after the nickname of the movement's founder), founded in 1989 by over 40 national parties. Secular Humanism
Secular humanism is a philosophy, belief system or life stance that embraces human reason, secular ethics, and philosophical naturalism while specifically rejecting religious dogma, supernaturalism, and superstition as the basis of morality and decision making. Secular humanism posits that human beings are capable of being ethical and moral without religion or belief in a deity. It does not, however, assume that humans are either inherently good or evil, nor does it present humans as being superior to nature. The Humanist Party ( hu, Humanista Párt) was a political party in Hungary, and it was a member of the Humanist International. History The Humanist Party (HP) was founded in 1993 and became a member of the Humanist International. As the party did not run in two consecutive elections (1994 and 1998), the Court of Budapest ceased its operations according to the existing legislation. The party re-established in January 2003. The Humanist Party ( da, Det Humanistiske Parti) was a political party in Denmark and is a member of the Humanist International. The party was established in 1987 and participated the general election held that year. The last time the party went for general elections in Denmark was 1993. The Humanist Party ( it, Partito Umanista, PU) is a minor political party in Italy. Founded in 1984, the party is a member of the Humanist International. It has never been represented in either the Italian Chamber of Deputies or the Italian Senate, the two houses of the Parliament of Italy. The Humanist Party ( is, Húmanistaflokkurinn) is a political party in Iceland founded on 25 June 1984. It has run candidates in the 1987 and 1999 parliamentary elections, but has never achieved representation. It is related to the International Humanist Party. They successfully applied for the list letter H to contest the 2013 Icelandic parliamentary election, and subsequently submitted an official candidate list on 12 April 2013. In the 2013 election they chose to only run candidates in the Reykjavik North and Reykjavik South constituencies.
