Human Clay
''Human Clay'' is the second studio album by American rock band Creed, released on September 28, 1999, through Wind-up Records. Produced by John Kurzweg, it was the band's last album to feature Brian Marshall, who left the band in August 2000, until 2009's '' Full Circle''. The album earned mixed to positive reviews from critics and was a massive commercial success, peaking at number one on the US ''Billboard'' 200 and staying there for two weeks. The album spawned two singles that peaked in the top 10 of the ''Billboard'' Hot 100: " Higher", which peaked at number 7, and "With Arms Wide Open", their only number one single. The album sold over 11.5 million copies in the US alone and over 20 million worldwide, making it the best selling album of Creed's career and one of the best-selling albums in the United States. Creed (band)
Creed was an American rock band from Tallahassee, Florida, formed in 1994. For most of its existence, the band consisted of lead vocalist Scott Stapp, guitarist and vocalist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall, and drummer Scott Phillips. Creed released two studio albums, ''My Own Prison'' in 1997 and ''Human Clay'' in 1999, before Marshall left the band in 2000. The band's third album, ''Weathered'', was released in 2001, with Tremonti on bass guitar. Creed disbanded in 2004; Stapp pursued a solo career while Tremonti, Marshall, and Phillips founded the band Alter Bridge with Myles Kennedy. In 2009, Creed reunited for a fourth album, '' Full Circle'', then toured until 2012. Virgos Merlot
Virgos Merlot was an American hard rock band formed in 1998. Prior to the formation of Virgos Merlot, many of the band members were in the group The Devine, which later disbanded. After formation, their first album, '' Signs of a Vacant Soul'', was released in 1999. The original lineup disbanded after the release of ''Signs of a Vacant Soul'', with the band later reforming without guitarist Jason Marchant. Brett Hestla
Brett Adam Hestla (born February 4, 1973) is an American musician. Career In the late 1990s, Hestla's band Virgos Merlot was signed to Atlantic Records. After their first release, '' Signs of a Vacant Soul'', he became the touring bassist for Creed after the departure of Brian Marshall. When Creed disbanded in 2004, Hestla began a career as a record producer, forming the independent label Silent Majority in Orlando, Florida and working with bands such as The Supervillains, Framing Hanley, Transmit Now, Faktion, Tantric, Redfine, Refuse The Fall, Bad Axis, Iodine Sky, Calefactor and Seven Day Sonnet. Mark Thomas Tremonti (born April 18, 1974) is an American guitarist and singer, best known for his tenures with the rock bands Creed and Alter Bridge. He is a founding member of both bands, and has also collaborated with many other artists over the years. He formed his own band Tremonti in 2011 and has released five albums with them, including ''A Dying Machine'', which was adapted by Tremonti and science fiction novelist John Shirley. This is a list of the best-selling albums in the United States based on RIAA certification and Nielsen SoundScan sales tracking. The criteria are that the album must have been published (including self-publishing by the artist), and the album must have achieved at least a diamond certification from the RIAA. The albums released prior to March 1991 should be included with their certified units only, as their Nielsen SoundScan sales are not complete. Since February 2016, album certifications include "on-demand audio and video streams and a track sale equivalent" units. The ''Billboard'' Hot 100 is the music industry standard record chart in the United States for songs, published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine. Chart rankings are based on sales (physical and digital), radio play, and online streaming in the United States. The weekly tracking period for sales was initially Monday to Sunday when Nielsen started tracking sales in 1991, but was changed to Friday to Thursday in July 2015. This tracking period also applies to compiling online streaming data.
