Hum Hindustani
''Hum Hindustani'' (Translation ''We, the Indians'' ) is a 1960 Hindi movie produced by Sashadhar Mukherjee and directed by Ram Mukherjee. The film stars Sunil Dutt, Joy Mukherjee, Asha Parekh, Jagirdar, Helen, Leela Chitnis, Agha, Prem Chopra and Sanjeev Kumar in his debut. The film is a remake of the 1952 Bengali movie '' Basu Poribar''. The film is about a family who lost everything but didn't leave the path of truth. The music is very good.It has a famous song "Chhodo Kal Ki Baatein" (Let go old stories) sung by Mukesh, with music by Usha Khanna and written by IPTA poet, Prem Dhawan. The film's music is by Usha Khanna. The film did "above average" business at the box office. |
Ram Mukherjee
Ram Mukerji (18 October 1933 — 22 October 2017) was an Indian film director, producer and screenwriter in Hindi and Bengali cinema. He was one of the founders of Filmalaya Studios, Mumbai. He is most known for his films, '' Hum Hindustani'' (1960) and ''Leader'' (1964), starring Dilip Kumar and Vyjayanthimala. He belonged to the Mukerji-Samarth family, as his father Ravindramohan Mukherjee was the elder brother of Sashadhar Mukherjee, and one of the founders of Filmalaya Studios. His wife Krishna Mukherjee is a playback singer, his daughter Rani Mukerji is a noted Bollywood actress, and his son is director Raja Mukerji. Raja Mukerji assisted his father in a few films, before making his acting debut with ''Bidhatar Khela'' (2007). Mukesh (singer)
Mukesh Chand Mathur (22 July 1923 – 27 August 1976), better known mononymously as Mukesh, was an Indian playback singer. Mukesh is considered to be one of the most popular and acclaimed playback singers of the Hindi film industry. Amongst the numerous nominations and awards he won, his song "Kai Baar Yuhi Dekha Hai" from the film ''Rajnigandha'' (1973) won him the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer. Geeta Dutt (born Geeta Ghosh Roy Chowdhuri; 23 November 1930 – 20 July 1972) was an Indian playback singer and a famous Hindi and Bengali classical artist, born in Faridpur before the Partition of India. Mohammed Rafi (24 December 1924 – 31 July 1980) was an Indian playback singer and musician. He is considered to have been one of the greatest and most influential singers of the Indian subcontinent. Hari Shivdasani (1909–1994) was an Indian character actor in Hindi cinema from 1930s-1980s. Personal life Hari Shivdasani was a Sindhi Hindu from Karachi and had moved with his family to Mumbai at the time of the partition of the British Raj in 1947. Gajanan Jagirdar
Gajanan Jagirdar (2 April 1907 – 13 August 1988) was a veteran Indian film director, screenwriter and actor. He worked in Hindi Cinema, also called Bollywood, as well as Marathi cinema. The period of 1942 to 1947, saw his rise as a film director with Prabhat Films. He was appointed as the first director (then principal) of thFilm and Television Institute of India (FTII)in 1960 which was known as ''Film Institute of India'' then. Jagirdar served as the director of the FTII for just over a year, from 1961 to 1962. He was associated with the Prabhat Film Company three decades before his FTII role, when the campus was the base of the Prabhat. Prem Dhawan (1923–2001) was an Indian lyricist, music composer, choreographer and actor of Bollywood known for his patriotic songs, especially for the lyrics and compositions for the 1965 Manoj Kumar starrer, ''Shaheed''.
