Hugo Mbongue
Hugo-Hilaire Thomas Henry Mbongue Mbongue (born July 27, 2004) is a Canadian soccer player who plays for Toronto FC in Major League Soccer. Early life Mbongue began playing soccer for the Cherry Beach Recreation Centre when he was three. When he was four, he began playing with Clairlea-Westview SC. Afterwards, he joined the North Toronto Nitros, before later moving on to the Toronto FC Academy. Career He joined Toronto FC II of USL League One for the 2021 season. He made his debut for Toronto FC II on May 22, 2021 against North Texas SC. He joined Toronto FC III during the summer for the 2021 League1 Ontario Summer Championship season. He attended the first team's pre-season in 2022, scoring the tying goal in the 89th minute in an exhibition match against Sporting Kansas City. 2022 Toronto FC II Season
The 2022 Toronto FC II season is the seventh season of play in the club's history. The club moved to MLS Next Pro for the season after previously playing in USL League One. During the regular season, Toronto FC II won the Northeast Division and finished second in the Eastern Conference. In the playoffs, they defeated Philadelphia Union 2 in the Conference Semi-Finals, before being defeated by Columbus Crew 2 in the Conference Finals, after extra time. 2021 Toronto FC II Season
The 2021 Toronto FC II season was the seventh season in the club's history and sixth in play. The club returned to competition in USL League One after withdrawing from the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to COVID-19 travel restrictions in Canada, Toronto FC II would begin the season playing home matches in the United States, playing their first three home matches at Grande Sports World in Casa Grande, Arizona before relocating to Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Florida. Ralph-William Johnson Priso-Mbongue (born August 2, 2002) is a Canadian soccer player who plays as a midfielder for Major League Soccer club Colorado Rapids. The 2022 CONCACAF Under-20 Championship will be the 7th edition of the CONCACAF Under-20 Championship (28th edition if all eras included), the men's under-20 international football tournament organized by CONCACAF. Homegrown Player Rule (Major League Soccer)
The Homegrown Player Rule is a Major League Soccer program that allows MLS teams to sign local players from their own development academies directly to MLS first team rosters. Before the creation of the rule in 2008, every player entering Major League Soccer would have to be assigned through one of the existing MLS player allocation processes, such as the MLS SuperDraft. MLS roster rules allow a team to sign players to contracts similar to Generation adidas contracts, which do not count against the MLS salary budget and may earn a much higher salary than the league minimum. MLS has since removed this wording from the roster rules.
