Major General Hugh Shaw (4 February 1839 – 25 August 1904) was a senior British Army officer and a recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Early life Shaw was born in Madras, British India, on 4 February 1839, the son of James Shaw, an Inspector General of Hospitals in Madras, and Ann Hay. He married Emily Grace Sheffield on 21 June 1870. Victoria Cross Shaw was 25 years old, and a captain in the 18th Regiment (later The Royal Irish Regiment), during the New Zealand Wars on 24 January 1865 when the following deed led to the award of the Victoria Cross: He later achieved the rank of Major General. Hugh Shaw (footballer, Born 1896)
Hugh Shaw (1 April 1896 – 16 August 1976) was a Scottish football player and manager. He played as a half-back for Hibernian, Rangers, Heart of Midlothian, East Fife and Leith Athletic in the Scottish Football League, winning a Scottish league championship with Rangers in 1927. After retiring as a player he became a coach with Hibernian, assisting manager Willie McCartney. Shaw became Hibs manager in 1948, and guided the team to league championships in 1948, 1951 and 1952. Shaw managed Hibs until 1961, and then had a brief spell as Raith Rovers manager. Playing career Shaw played during the interwar period, making his debut for Hibernian during the 1918–19 season. He played as a left half-back in the Hibs side that reached the Scottish Cup finals of 1923 and 1924, losing to Celtic and Airdrie respectively. Shaw left Hibs in 1926 to play for Rangers. He played in 36 league games in 1926–27 as Rangers won the Scottish league championship, but then moved to Hearts. ...

Hugh Murray Shaw (November 13, 1876 in Kintore, Ontario – April 3, 1934) was a farmer, rancher and Canadian federal politician who represented the Alberta riding of Macleod for one term. Shaw was elected to the House of Commons of Canada in the 1917 Canadian federal election. He defeated two other candidates by a wide margin to win the federal electoral district of Macleod for the Unionist Party. Shaw attempted to run for re-election under the Conservative banner in the 1921 Canadian federal election.
