Hughbert William "Hugh" Conklin was an American college football player. University of Georgia Conklin was a prominent end for the Georgia Bulldogs football team of the University of Georgia from 1910 to 1913. End (American Football)
An end in American and Canadian football is a player who lines up at either end of the line of scrimmage, usually beside the tackles. Rules state that a legal offensive formation must always consist of seven players on the line of scrimmage and that the player on the end of the line constitutes an eligible receiver. Before the advent of two platoons, in which teams fielded distinct defensive and offensive units, players that lined up on the ends of the line on both offense and defense were referred to simply as "ends". The position was used in this sense until roughly the 1960s. On offense, an end who lines up close to the other linemen is known as a tight end and is the only lineman who aside from blocking can run or catch passes. 1912 Georgia Bulldogs Football Team
The 1912 Georgia Bulldogs football team represented the Georgia Bulldogs of the University of Georgia during the 1912 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association football season. The Bulldogs completed the season with a 6–1–1, but its 46–0 loss to Vanderbilt was a big disappointment. Vanderbilt completed its 1912 season undefeated and won its third straight SIAA conference title. The otherwise strong season also include a tie with Sewanee. The 1912 Auburn Tigers football team represented Auburn University (then called the Alabama Polytechnic Institute) in the 1912 college football season. It was the Tigers' 21st season and they competed as a member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SIAA). The team was led by head coach Mike Donahue, in his eighth year, and played their home games at Drake Field in Auburn, Alabama. Bob McWhorter
Robert Ligon McWhorter (June 4, 1891 – June 29, 1960) played football and baseball at the University of Georgia. Early years McWhorter attended Gordon Military College in Barnesville, Georgia. He played football and baseball there under coach Alex Cunningham. Their baseball team came up to Georgia and won 11–0. Georgia athletic chairman Dr. S. V. Sanford hired Cunningham that same day, and McWhorter followed. University of Georgia Football As a halfback, he scored 61 touchdowns from 1910 to 1913. In 1913, McWhorter became UGA’s first All-American. He was the captain of both the baseball and football teams in his senior year. He was a member of the Chi Phi Fraternity, Phi Kappa Literary Society, and Phi Beta Kappa at Georgia.
