Hudson Mohawke
Ross Matthew Birchard (born 11 February 1986), better known by the stage name Hudson Mohawke, is a Scottish-American producer, composer, and DJ from Glasgow. He is known for his influential work in 21st century hip-hop and electronic music. A founding member of the UK label collective LuckyMe, his fractured, colorful take on hip-hop made him a leading figure in the late-2000s wonky scene. He released his debut album ''Butter'' in 2009 on Warp Records. He has followed with the solo albums ''Lantern'' (2015) and '' Cry Sugar'' (2022), both on Warp. Birchard is also one-half of the duo TNGHT with Canadian producer Lunice; their influential eponymous EP was released in 2012. That year, Birchard signed with Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. (born September 27, 1982), known professionally as Lil Wayne, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record executive. Lunice Fermin Pierre II (born May 15, 1988), better known by his stage name Lunice, is a Canadian record producer and DJ from Montreal. He is one half of the duo TNGHT along with Hudson Mohawke. Biography Lunice is the son of a Filipino mother and a Haitian father. Lunice started as a b-boy, dancing competitively for the 701 Squad. In the early 2000s, he was inspired to make his own music after hearing how producer 9th Wonder constructed beats on the computer program Fruity Loops. In 2007, Lunice played his first gig at Hovatron's monthly Bass Culture in Montréal, where he met Sixtoo, and was invited to perform at the Megasoid parties. ''Cry Sugar'' is the third studio album by Hudson Mohawke, the alias of Scottish musician Ross Birchard. It was released on 12 August 2022 on Warp Records. It has received generally favorable critical reviews. Background ''Cry Sugar'' is Birchard's first album of new material since his Watch Dogs 2#Music, 2016 soundtrack for the video game ''Watch Dogs 2''. In a press release, Birchard described the album as influenced by "American decadence" and the "apocalyptic film scores" of artists such as Vangelis and John Williams."
