Hubert De Bèsche
Hubert Wathier August de Bèsche (7 July 1911 – 11 March 1997) was a Swedish foil and sabre fencer. He competed in three events at the 1936 Summer Olympics. He was also a diplomat and Foreign Service officer. He served as the Swedish Ambassador to the United States from 1964 to 1973 and to Denmark 1973 to 1977. Frösön
Frösön (, ; " Frey's island"), (Old no, Frøys øy) is the largest island in the lake Storsjön, located west of the city Östersund in Jämtland, Sweden. During most of recorded history Frösön was the regional centre of Jämtland, and it is the location of the Frösö Runestone, the northernmost in the world. The Swedish composer Wilhelm Peterson-Berger had a summer house (and from 1930 a permanent home) on the island. In 1896 Peterson-Berger composed a set of piano pieces entitled ''Frösöblomster'' (''Flowers of Frösön''), and his opera ''Arnljot'' from 1910 is partly based on the runic inscriptions on Frösö Runestone. Embassy of Sweden in Copenhagen is the diplomatic mission of Sweden to the Kingdom of Denmark. It is located at Amaliegade 5A, 1256 Copenhagen K. The residence The ambassador's residence is located on Sankt Annæ Plads, on the southern boundary of Frederiksstaden. The building was originally built as a new home for Johan Jegind, a timber tradesman. Its architect was Nicolai Eigtved who also designed the masterplan for the new neighbourhood and many of its buildings. The banker and later finance minister Johan Sigismund von Mösting lived in the building from 1814 until 1818. Count Carl von Moltke lived there from 1845. In 1852, Ph. Randrup, its owner at that time, extended it with an extra floor. He also expanded it with a new building along Sankt Annæ Plads which was completed in 1855. Tord Bernhard Hagen (19 January 1914 – 2008) was a Swedish diplomat and ambassador. Biography Early life and education Tord Bernhard Hagen was known to his friends as Bill, a nickname given to him as a young student in Uppsala. He lost his father early and his mother Ellen Hagen raised him and his sister Helga while pursuing a career in politics. Career After graduating from Uppsala University, Bill went on to pursue a career as a diplomat by joining the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. His first deployment was at the Swedish embassy in London where he directly experienced the outbreak of World War II and the subsequent German bombings. He served as an attaché at the embassy from April 1939 to 1943. He also spent a few months in 1939 as substitute to the general counsel in Dublin.
