Hualien Al-Falah Mosque
The Hualien Al-Falah Mosque () is a mosque in Hualien City, Hualien County, Taiwan. It is the ninth and latest mosque built in Taiwan. It is also the first mosque in Hualien County. History The mosque was inaugurated by former Indonesian Minister of Law and Human Rights Mahfud MD on 18 March 2018. On 10 November 2019, an information and complaint service counter for Indonesian migrant workers in Taiwan was established at the meeting room of the mosque building. Activities The mosque is the venue for Quran recitation activities by Majelis Taklim Nurul Iman Hualien. The mosque is also the center for information and complaint center for the migrant workers from Indonesia. Transportation The mosque is accessible within walking distance northwest of Hualien Station of Taiwan Railways. Mohammad Mahfud Mahmodin (born 13 May 1957), commonly known as Mahfud MD, is an Indonesian politician and lawyer, who is currently serving as the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs of Indonesia. He is the first civilian to hold the office; with all of his predecessors coming from military – mostly Army – retirees. He also previously served as the chief justice of the Constitutional Court of Indonesia, member of the People's Representative Council, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Law and Human Rights. Islam In Taiwan
Islam is a minor religion in Taiwan and it represents about 0.3% of the population. There are around 60,000 Muslims in Taiwan, in which about 90% belong to the Hui ethnic group. There are also more than 250,000 foreign Muslims working in Taiwan from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines, as well as other nationalities from more than 30 countries. As of 2018, there are eleven mosques in Taiwan, with the most notable being the Taipei Grand Mosque, the oldest and largest one. Taiwanese Muslims are mostly descended from Chinese Muslims in Mainland China, and are Sunni Muslims mostly belonging to the Hanafi school. A sizeable Ahmadiyya community also exists. Hualien City (; Wade-Giles: Hua¹-lien² Shih⁴; Hokkien POJ: ''Hoa-lian-chhī'' or ''Hoa-liân-chhī'') is a county-administered city and the county seat of Hualien County, Taiwan.
