Hsiao Teng-tzang
Hsiao Teng-tzang (; 25 August 1934 – 16 November 2017) was a Taiwanese politician. He was a member of the Legislative Yuan from 1973 to 1986 and served as Minister of Justice between July 1988 and October 1989. Hsiao later chaired the Central News Agency. Career Hsiao was born in 1934 and studied law at National Taiwan University before becoming a teacher at Taiwan Provincial Chiayi High School. From 1963 to 1970, he served as a district court judge. He was named a high court judge later that year and served until his first election to the Legislative Yuan. Hsiao contested the next three consecutive legislative elections, resigning in 1986 before the end of his fourth term to become minister without portfolio. Concurrently with his legislative stint, Hsiao served in multiple positions within the Kuomintang. He succeeded Shih Chi-yang as justice minister in 1988. Lee Teng-hui
Lee Teng-hui (; 15 January 192330 July 2020) was a Taiwanese statesman and economist who served as President of the Republic of China (Taiwan) under the 1947 Constitution and chairman of the Kuomintang (KMT) from 1988 to 2000. He was the first president to be born in Taiwan, the last to be indirectly elected and the first to be directly elected. During his presidency, Lee oversaw the end of martial law and the full democratization of the ROC, advocated the Taiwanese localization movement, and led an ambitious foreign policy to gain allies around the world. Nicknamed "Mr. Democracy", Lee was credited as the president who completed Taiwan's transition to the democratic era. After leaving office, he remained active in Taiwanese politics. Lee was considered the "spiritual leader" of the pro-independence Taiwan Solidarity Union (TSU), and recruited for the party in the past. Yunlin County (Mandarin pinyin: ''Yúnlín Xiàn''; Taigi POJ: ''Hûn-lîm-koān''; Hakka PFS: ''Yùn-lìm-yen'') is a county in western Taiwan.
