Hronov
Hronov () is a town in Náchod District in the Hradec Králové Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 6,000 inhabitants. It is known as the birthplace of writer Alois Jirásek. Administrative parts Villages of Malá Čermná, Rokytník, Velký Dřevíč, Žabokrky and Zbečník are administrative parts of Hronov. Malá Čermná forms an exclave of the municipal territory. Geography Hronov is located about north of Náchod and northeast of Hradec Králové. The Malá Čermná exclave lies on the border with Poland. Most of the municipal territory lies in the Broumov Highlands, but the southern part with the town proper lies in the Podorlická Uplands. The highest point is the Turov hill with an altitude of . Hronov is situated on the river Metuje. The Zbečník Stream flows through the western part of the territory an joins the Metuje in the urban area. Hronovka And Regnerka
Hronovka and Regnerka (collectively known as Prdlavka) are a pair of mineral springs located in Hronov in the Czech Republic. They are situated in the Jiráskovy sady park. History The springs were discovered in 1865 by priest Regner Havlovický behind the home of Czech writer Alois Jirásek. Havlovicky noticed a strange-coloured deposit flowing into the Metuje river from the spring. Deeming that the water had curative properties, Jirásek's father (owner of the property on which the springs were discovered) had, by 1869, built a spa with bathing facilities filled with water from the springs. The spa eventually became defunct, but was restored by the town authorities during World War II. The facility was later remodelled in 1977, with a full reconstruction in 2013, part of a wider regeneration project for Jiráskovy Sady. Alois Jirásek
Alois Jirásek () (23 August 1851, Hronov, Kingdom of Bohemia – 12 March 1930, Prague) was a Czech writer, author of historical novels and plays. Jirásek was a high school history teacher in Litomyšl and later in Prague until his retirement in 1909. He wrote a series of historical novels imbued with faith in his nation and in progress toward freedom and justice. He was close to many important Czech personalities like M.Aleš, J.V. Sládek, K.V. Rais or Z.J. Nejedlý. He attended an art club in Union Cafe with them. Josef Čapek
Josef Čapek (; 23 March 1887 – April 1945) was a Czech artist who was best known as a painter, but who was also noted as a writer and a poet. He invented the word "robot", which was introduced into literature by his brother, Karel Čapek. Life Čapek was born in Hronov, Bohemia (Austria-Hungary, later Czechoslovakia, now the Czech Republic) in 1887. First a painter of the Cubist school, he later developed his own playful, minimalist style. He collaborated with his brother Karel on a number of plays and short stories; on his own, he wrote the utopian play ''Land of Many Names'' and several novels, as well as critical essays in which he argued for the art of the unconscious, of children, and of 'savages'. Paula Gans
Paula Gans (9 May 1883 – 7 November 1941) was a Czech painter of still lifes, portraits and nudes. Biography Paula Gans was born the daughter of Ignaz Gans and his wife Johanna in Hronov, Bohemia on 9 May 1883. Nothing is known about her childhood and youth. Gans passed the state examination for ''English languages'' in Vienna. In 1920 she emigrated to Hamburg with her older brother Richard. The siblings lived together in a house that Richard had bought before. Soon after her arrival she became friends with the painter Hertha Spielberg and shared a studio with her in the Curiohaus in Rothenbaumchaussee 15. Through Spielberg, Gans got to know other Hamburg artists, including the painter Gertrud Schaeffer and the photographer Charlotte Rudolf; both temporarily worked in the studio in Rothenbaumchaussee. Kudowa-Zdrój (german: Bad Kudowa, cz, Chudoba), or simply Kudowa, is a town located below the Table Mountains in Kłodzko County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in the southwestern part of Poland.
