Hrachia Adjarian
Hrachia Acharian ( hy, Հրաչեայ Աճառեան, reformed spelling: Հրաչյա Աճառյան ; 8 March 1876 – 16 April 1953) was an Armenian linguist, lexicographer, etymologist, and philologist. An Istanbul Armenian, Acharian studied at local Armenian schools and at the Sorbonne, under Antoine Meillet, and the University of Strasbourg, under Heinrich Hübschmann. He then taught in various Armenian communities in the Russian Empire and Iran before settling in the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic in 1923, working at Yerevan State University until his death. A distinguished polyglot, Acharian compiled several major dictionaries, including the monumental ''Armenian Etymological Dictionary'', extensively studied Armenian dialects, compiled catalogs of Armenian manuscripts, and authored comprehensive studies on the history of Armenian language and alphabet. Hrachya Qochar
Hrachya Kochar (; 19 January 1910 – 2 May 1965), born Hrachya Kochari Gabrielyan, was an Armenian writer and publicist. He won the first state prize of the Armenian SSR for his novella ''Nahapet'', which was adapted into a Nahapet, film of the same name in 1977. Biography Hrachya Gabrielyan was born in 1910 in the Ottoman Empire, in the village of Kumlubucak (now located in the Taşlıçay district of the Ağrı Province of Turkey), historically located in the province of Bagrevand in Western Armenia. He lost both of his parents the Armenian genocide: his mother died during their flight to Eastern Armenia, while his father, Kochar, also known as Kocho, who fought in Andranik, Andranik's army, died in 1918. Hrachya Ghaplanyan Drama Theatre ( hy, Հրաչյա Ղափլանյանի անվան դրամատիկական թատրոն) is a municipal theatre founded in 1967 by Hrachya Ghaplanyan. It is located in the Kentron district of Yerevan, on 28 Isahakyan Street. Haig (Hrach) Tiriakian (1871–1915) was an Ottoman Armenian politician and a member of the Armenian National Assembly. Tiriakian played an important role during the Ottoman Bank takeover in 1896. A member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, Tiriakian lead an active life in Armenian politic affairs. He was killed during the Armenian genocide in 1915. Hrachya Petikyan ( hy, Հրաչյա Պետիկյան , born 23 February 1960) is an Armenian sports shooter and USSR, European, four-time World and Olympic Champion. Petikyan is a four-time Olympian who has represented three nations: the Soviet Union, the Unified Team and the Republic of Armenia. He has been awarded the Honored Master of Sport of the USSR title. Petikyan started shooting in the Yerevan dynamo sports club under the honored coach of Armenia, Martyn Kalechyan. For many years, Petikyan was a member of the USSR national team and a Champion of Europe and the World in individual and team competitions. Hrach Mikayeli Bartikyan ( hy, Հրաչ Միքայելի Բարթիկյան; russian: Грaч Миха́йлович Бартикян, also transliterated as Hratch Bart'ikyan; July 7, 1927–August 17, 2011) was an Armenian academician and specialist on Byzantine and Armenian studies. Hrachia Nersisyan ( hy, Հրաչյա Ներսիսյան, 24 November 1895 – 6 November 1961) was a Soviet-Armenian film actor. He was honoured with title of People's Artist of the USSR in 1956. Nersisyan was born in Nicomedia, Ottoman Empire (modern-day Izmit, Turkey) and studied in Constantinople. He moved to the Soviet Union in 1923, and soon became a film actor. Nersisyan's first credit was in ''Namus'', a 1925 silent movie. Hrachya Melikyan ( hy, Հրաչյա Մելիքյան, ; May 8, 1947 – March 6, 2006) was an Armenian music composer and film score, film composer. Hrachya Melikyan synthesized world music developments and national music particularities, forging his own characteristic and distinctive musical style. The majority of his compositions are instrumentals, including symphonic, chamber, as well as ensemble compositions. Melikyan also composed numerous choir compositions, romances, pieces for different instruments, as well as music to films including ''The Ingenious Peasant''.
