Hoyos is a municipality located in the Cáceres (province), province of Cáceres, Extremadura, Spain. According to the 2005 census (Instituto Nacional de Estadística (Spain), INE), the municipality has a population of 988 inhabitants. It is the administrative capital of the Sierra de Gata (comarca), Sierra de Gata. Sierra De Gata (comarca)
Sierra de Gata is a ''comarca'' at the northern end of province of Cáceres in Extremadura, one of Spain's seventeen Autonomous Communities. The mountain range of Sierra de Gata is in the area and has given its name to the comarca. The main town is Moraleja. This comarca borders with Portugal in the west in the area of the Portuguese Serra da Malcata Natural Reserve. There are linguistic affinities between this comarca and neighboring Las Hurdes. Palais Hoyos
Palais Hoyos is an Art Nouveau building in the Landstraße district of Vienna, Austria. History The palace was built, together with two other buildings, by Otto Wagner at the end of the 19th century. The style of the Historicism was pursued during the realisation of the palace and the facade is Rococo and Vienna Secession (Art Nouveau). Wagner kept the building in the middle, Rennweg 3 (Palais Hoyos), for himself, while Gustav Mahler lived in the adjacent building, Rennweg 5, from 1898 to 1909. The site once housed the Trinity hospital and the barracks of the ''k. k. adelig-polnischen Leibgarde'' military unit, which were called the ''Arcièren-Leibgarde'' later on. The House of Hoyos is a Spanish and Austrian noble family. It derives its name from El Hoyo de Pinares in Ávila, Castile and León, and can be traced to the 9th century. Ludwig Alexander Georg Graf von Hoyos, Freiherr zu Stichsenstein (13 May 1876 – 20 October 1937) was an Austro-Hungarian diplomat who played a major role during the July Crisis while serving as chef de cabinet of the Foreign Minister at the outbreak of World War I in 1914. He was the last chef de cabinet of Austria-Hungary. He was the grandson of Robert Whitehead, the inventor of the torpedo. Early life Hoyos was born in Fiume (then part of Austria-Hungary, now called Rijeka in Croatia) on 13 May 1876 into the House of Hoyos, a noble family that hailed originally from Spain, but which had migrated to Austria around 1525. Darío del Niño Jesús Castrillón Hoyos (4 July 1929 – 18 May 2018) was a Colombian cardinal of the Catholic Church. He was Prefect of the Congregation for the Clergy from 1996 to 2006 and President of the Pontifical Commission ''Ecclesia Dei'' from 2000 until his retirement in 2009. He was made a cardinal in 1998.
