The 12023 / 12024 Patna Junction–Howrah ''Jan Shatabdi Express'' is a Superfast Express train of the Jan Shatabdi Express series belonging to Indian Railways – East Central Railway zone that runs between and in India. It operates as train number 12024 from Patna Junction to Howrah Junction and as train number 12023 in the reverse direction, serving the states of Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. It used to run as a Shatabdi Express from Patna to Howrah (introduced on Nov 2001) but due to low patronage this train was converted to Jan Shatabdi Express launched by the former railway minister of India, Nitish Kumar in the 2002-03 Railway Budgetbr> The LHB coach of the train can run with a maximum speed of 130 km/h. The Indian locomotive class WAP-7 is a class of 25 Volt, kV Alternating current, AC Electric locomotive, electric locomotives that was developed in 1999 by Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) for Indian Railways. The model name stands for 5 ft 6 in gauge railway, broad gauge (W), AC Current (A), Passenger traffic (P) engine, 7th generation (7). They entered service in 2000.
