Johnson County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas. As of the 2020 census, the population was 25,749. The county seat is Clarksville. Johnson County is Arkansas's 30th county, formed on November 16, 1833, from a portion of Pope County and named for Benjamin Johnson, a Territorial Judge. It is an alcohol prohibition or dry county. The Ada Mills Bridge links the Arkansas River between Johnson and Logan counties. It is named for Ada Mills, a former Republican political activist who lobbied for the structure for forty years before its completion. The notorious bandit Bill Doolin, the founder of the Wild Bunch, was born in Johnson County in 1858 and shot to death on capture in Oklahoma in 1896. Howell Township is a civil township of Livingston County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 6,702 at the 2010 census, up from 5,679 at the 2000 census. The township is bordered on the southeast by the city of Howell, but the two are administered autonomously. Communities *Fleming is an unincorporated community at Fleming and Warner roads and Grand River Avenue (). Geography Howell Township is in central Livingston County, on the north and west sides of the city of Howell, the county seat. Interstate 96 passes through the southern part of the township, with access from Exit 133 (Highway M-59). I-96 leads west to Lansing and southeast to Detroit, while M-59 leads east to Pontiac. Towner County is a county in the U.S. state of North Dakota. As of the 2020 census, the population is 2,162. Its county seat is Cando. It is south of the Canada–US border with Manitoba. History The Dakota Territory legislature created the county on March 8, 1883, with areas partitioned from Cavalier and Rolette counties. It was named for Oscar M. Towner (1842–1897), a businessman and member of the 15th territorial legislature. The county organization was not completed at that time, and the county was attached to Pembina County for judicial and administrative purposes. That lasted until January 24, 1884, when the county organization was effected, and its attachment to Pembina was dissolved. However, on January 26, 1889, the county was attached to Ramsey County for judicial and administrative purposes. This arrangement only lasted a few months.
