Howard Wads Rundquist
Hoawrd Wads Rundquist (May 21, 1901 – February 28, 1985) was an American businessman and politician. Rundquist was born in Murdock, Swift County, Minnesota and graduated from Murdock High School in 1919. He graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1923 and went to University of Minnesota for graduate studies. Rundquist also went to Fuller Theological Seminary for graduate studies. He lived in Dawson, Lac qui Parle, Minnesota, with his wife and family and was involved in the grocery business. Rundquist was also a high school teacher in the Lewiston and Willmar schools. Murdock, Minnesota
Murdock is a rural town in Swift County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 306 at the 2020 census. The city is part of the Kerhoven-Murdock-Sunburg (KMS) school district. Murdock has Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg Elementary School which is for grades PreK-5. History A post office has been in operation at Murdock since 1878. Murdock was platted in 1881 by S. S. Murdock, and named for him. Murdock was incorporated in 1881. On December 9, 2020, the Murdock City Council voted to allow the Asatru Folk Assembly to use a former church as its gathering place. Swift County, Minnesota
Swift County is a county in the U.S. state of Minnesota. As of the 2020 census, the population was 9,838. Its county seat is Benson. History Swift County is in west central Minnesota and consists of with three tiers of seven townships each. It was established on February 18, 1870, and named for Henry Adoniram Swift, the third governor of Minnesota (1863–64). The Indians had grievances against the government, including delays in sending annuities that caused near starvation several times. In August 1862, an Indian rebellion broke out in Minnesota. The warfare reached the settlements just getting started in northeastern Swift County. By late September 1862, the Indian War was almost over but the settlers hesitated to venture back to Swift County until 1865, when all danger was apparently over. Willmar, Minnesota
Willmar is a city in, and the county seat of, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 21,015 at the 2020 census. History Agricultural expansion and the establishment of Willmar as a division point on the Great Northern Railway determined its growth. The first settlers arrived during the 1850s, attracted to the fertile land and an abundance of timber and game. The Dakota War of 1862 left the township abandoned for several years. The advent of the railroad in Kandiyohi County in 1869 brought new settlers. Many were of Swedish and Norwegian origin; residents of Scandinavian heritage are still a majority.
