Howard Politini
Howard Robin Thomas Politini Jnr (MP) is a Fijian politician and Member of the Parliament of Fiji. He is a member of the FijiFirst party. In the 2014 election Politini received 550 votes, which was not enough to be make him a Member of Parliament for the FijiFirst party. He was subsequently appointed to the boards of the Bio-security Authority of Fiji and Tourism Fiji. The Parliament of the Republic of Fiji is the unicameral legislature of the Republic of Fiji. It consists of 55 members elected every 4 years using open list proportional representation in one multi-member nationwide constituency. History Establishment The Fijian Parliament dates from 10 October 1970, when Fiji became independent from the United Kingdom. FijiFirst ( fj, iMatai ni Viti) is a liberal political party in Fiji. The party was formed in March 2014 by then Prime Minister, Frank Bainimarama. Formation The party was launched on 31 March 2014 with Bainimarama beginning a nationwide tour of the country in a campaign bus to collect the obligatory 5000 signatures necessary to register a political party. The party collected over 40,000 signatures for its registration. Bainimarama says FijiFirst is a name that encompasses his political beliefs. He listed his first candidate and party president Jiko Luveni. The party appointed former Fiji Labour Party senator Bijai Prasad as one of its Vice Presidents as well as the current Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum as the party General secretary. Colonel Timoci Lesikivatukoula Natuva (born 1957 in Wainibokasi, Tailevu) is a former Fijian politician and Member of the Parliament of Fiji. He has previously served as Minister for Immigration, National Security and Defence. Natuva is a former Colonel in the Republic of Fiji Military Forces. He holds a Master of Arts in Strategic Studies from Deakin University. He attended Sawani Village School and later Lelean Memorial School. He has had over 30 years of military experience.
