''How to Win at Checkers (Every Time)'' (Thai title: ''พี่ชาย My Hero'') is a 2015 internationally co-produced drama film directed by Josh Kim. It was screened in the Panorama section of the 65th Berlin International Film Festival, and was selected as the Thai entry for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards, but it was not nominated. The film is based on the short stories "At the Café Lovely" and "Draft Day" by Rattawut Lapcharoensap. Anocha Suwichakornpong
Anocha Suwichakornpong ( th, อโนชา สุวิชากรพงศ์, born 1976) is a Thai independent film director, screenwriter and producer. She is Visiting Lecturer on Art, Film, and Visual Studies at Harvard University. Her films have been the subject of retrospectives at the Museum of the Moving Image, New York; TIFF Cinematheque, Toronto; Cinema Moderne, Montreal; and Olhar De Cinema, Brazil, among others. Her work, informed by the socio-political history of Thailand, has received international critical acclaim and numerous awards. She is the recipient of the 2019 Prince Claus award for "pioneering a mode of intellectual feminist filmmaking, courageously and convincingly challenging hegemonic practices and established conventions, both in filmmaking and in society".
