Carbon Leaf
Carbon Leaf is a quintet from Richmond, Virginia, known for their alt-country, Celtic, and folk-infused indie rock. Though some of the band members have changed through the years, Carbon Leaf has been consistently creating and performing music since the early 1990s. The band currently consists of founding members Barry Privett, Carter Gravatt, and Terry Clark, as well as Jon Markel and Jesse Humphrey. Carbon Leaf is best known for the song "Life Less Ordinary", which debuted in 2004 and reached #5 on Billboard's Adult Alternative charts. WCNR (106.1 FM) is an adult album alternative formatted broadcast radio station licensed to Keswick, Virginia, serving Charlottesville, Albemarle and Western Fluvanna counties in Virginia. WCNR is owned and operated by the Charlottesville Radio Group subsidiary of Saga Communications. History The station that is now WCNR began as a station licensed to Churchville, Virginia, outside Staunton. The initial permit was granted in 1988 to Peter W. Lechman on 106.7 MHz, under the callsign WJNA. This facility never made it to air before the permit's expiration in March 1990, and Lechman applied for an extension to November. Before this next expiration, it was modified to move to 106.3 MHz, relocate closer to Staunton, increase power, and change the callsign to WBOP. It was a primarily classical label at its peak in the 1950s and 1960s, but also has a catalogue of recordings by a number of pivotal jazz, folk, and blues musicians. The Bach Guild was a subsidiary label. The label was acquired by Concord Bicycle Music in April 2015. History The newly founded venture's first record was of J.S. Bach's 21st cantata, ''Ich hatte viel Bekümmernis'', BWV 21 ("I had much grief"), with Jonathan Sternberg conducting the tenor Hugues Cuénod and other soloists, chorus and orchestra.
