How Am I Supposed To Live Without You
"How Am I Supposed to Live Without You" is a song written in 1982 by Doug James and Michael Bolton. The ballad has been recorded by many artists around the world, in several languages, most notably Bolton himself, becoming something of a modern pop standard. Instrumental versions of the song have been recorded featuring variously the piano, guitar, saxophone, pan flute, steel drum, and music box. "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You" was supposed to be recorded by Australian duo Air Supply, but when Arista President Clive Davis asked for permission to change the lyrics of the chorus, Bolton refused, and Davis let go of the song.Hyatt, Wesley. ''The Billboard Book of Number One Adult Contemporary Hits'', Billboard Books, 1999, p. 277, 354. Subsequently Laura Branigan recorded it as written, and it became the first major hit for the two songwriters. Bolton's own rendition became a worldwide hit in early 1990. The Best Of Branigan
''The Best of Branigan'' is a greatest hits compilation by singer Laura Branigan to be released in the United States. Of the thirteen tracks, eight had charted, including her major hit singles "Gloria", "Solitaire", "Self Control", " Power of Love", and "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You". The album features two new recordings: "Show Me Heaven" and a cover of Donna Summer's "Dim All the Lights", the latter which was released as a single in late spring 1995 and became a ''Billboard'' Top 40 Dance hit. Remaining tracks were taken from her 1993 album ''Over My Heart'', which had been largely overlooked by audiences. In terms of her global music releases, ''Best of Branigan'' had already been preceded by other greatest hits anthologies outside the United States, all with very similar titles, beginning in 1988, and again in 1992, for listeners in much of the res ...

The chart was re-branded the Australian Music Report (AMR) in July 1987. From June 1988, the Australian Recording Industry Association, which had been using the top 50 portion of the report under licence since mid-1983, chose to produce their own listing as the ARIA Charts. Before the Kent Report, ''Go-Set'' magazine published weekly Top-40 Singles from 1966, and Album charts from 1970 until the magazine's demise in August 1974. David Kent later published Australian charts from 1940 to 1973 in a retrospective fashion, using state by state chart data obtained from various Australian radio stations. Background Kent had spent a number of years previously working in the music industry at both EMI and Phonogram records and had developed the report initially as a hobby. Mama (Umberto Tozzi And Laura Branigan Song)
"Mama" is a song recorded by Italian balladeer Umberto Tozzi and American pop star Laura Branigan. Renowned throughout Italy, Tozzi's melodic and romantic music was largely unheard outside his native country until Branigan discovered his songs and gave them dramatic reinterpretations. Originally written by Tozzi and Giancarlo Bigazzi in the late 1970s, "Mama" was one of several Italian songs Laura Branigan recorded in the early- to mid-1980s with a bold, urgently emotional vocal and more dynamic instrumentation that sharpened the songs' hooks and captured the zeitgeist of the era's synth- and guitar-driven Europop style. In 1982, the 1979 Tozzi/Bigazzi tune "Gloria" became a platinum, Number One smash for Branigan and launched her career. Two years later, Branigan would take the 1977 Tozzi/Bigazzi song "Ti Amo" to the top of the charts in several countries. And Bigazzi was the co-writer of Branigan's biggest international hit, "Self Control" (the only one of the four written in Eng ...
