Houston Summit
Houston Summit were a professional indoor soccer team that operated from 1978 to 1980. They played in the original Major Indoor Soccer League. In 1980, the franchise was moved to Baltimore to become the Baltimore Blast. Their roster mainly included players from the Houston NASL, the Houston Hurricane. During the two seasons that the Summit played in Houston the average home attendance was 2,749. The team was named for its home arena. Major Indoor Soccer League has been the name of three different American professional indoor soccer leagues: *Major Indoor Soccer League (1978–1992), known in its final two seasons as the Major Soccer League *Major Indoor Soccer League (2001–2008), founded by former NPSL teams and later joined by WISL teams *Major Indoor Soccer League (2008–2014), known as the National Indoor Soccer League in 2008 and adopted the MISL name in 2009. Stewart Jump
Stewart Jump (born 27 January 1952) is an English former footballer in the Football League for Crystal Palace, Fulham and Stoke City. He also had a successful career playing in the United States, and was chosen as the MVP of the 1975 Soccer Bowl. Career Jump was born in Manchester and joined Stoke City as an apprentice in 1965. He progressed through the youth ranks at the Victoria Ground and signed a professional contract in 1970. He made his debut against Coventry City in February 1971 and played in 12 First Division matches in 1970–71 scoring once against Blackpool. Jump played 33 games in 1971–72 and made 11 appearances in 1972–73. After playing just five matches in 1973–74 he was sold to Crystal Palace for £75,000. Jump spent four seasons at Selhurst Park making 91 appearances scoring twice and he also played three matches for Fulham F.C. in 1977. John Stremlau
John Stremlau is a retired U.S. soccer player who played five seasons in the North American Soccer League and at least six in the Major Indoor Soccer League. Player College Stremlau grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. He attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIU-E) where he played on the men's soccer team from 1972 to 1975. He finished his collegiate career ranked sixth on both the school's career goals and points lists with 33 and 91 respectively. He was elected to the SIUE Athletics Hall of Fame in 2007. Professional In 1976, Stremlau signed with the Dallas Tornado of the North American Soccer League (NASL). He moved to the St. Louis Stars for the 1977 season before moving again, this time to the Houston Hurricane in 1978. Jim Pollihan
James Pollihan is a former U.S. soccer player who was an outstanding collegiate forward with Quincy University but moved to defense as a professional. He earned fifteen caps with the U.S. national team between 1976 and 1979. Player College Pollihan starred as a forward with the Quincy University soccer team between 1972 and 1976. Quincy played in the NAIA where it dominated the men's soccer competition from the late 1960s through the 1980s. In 1970, Pollihan's first year with the team, Quincy, went to the championship game where it fell to Davis and Elkins College. Pollihan was selected to the All Tournament team. Beginning in 1973, Quincy went on a tear, winning the next three titles. Pollihan was named the tournament's Outstanding Forward in 1973, 1974 and 1975. Michael David Poole (born 23 April 1955) is an English retired football goalkeeper who played professionally in The Football League, North American Soccer League and Major Indoor Soccer League. Poole began his career with Rochdale A.F.C. In 1974, the team sent the nineteen-year-old Poole on loan with the Denver Dynamos of the North American Soccer League. Ian Anderson (11 September 1954 – 5 November 2008) was a Scottish professional Association football, football defender (football), defender who spent most of his career playing in the United States. Anderson began his professional career with Dundee F.C., Dundee when he was sixteen, his debut with the first team coming in August 1972. He moved to St Johnstone F.C., St Johnstone in December 1975.
