Hotel Icon (Hong Kong)
Hotel ICON () is the teaching and research hotel built for the School of Hotel and Tourism Management by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. It is fully owned by the university. Located at 17 Science Museum Road, Tsim Sha Tsui East, Kowloon, Hong Kong, the hotel was built on the site of what was formerly PolyU's staff quarters, Pak Sui Yuen (). The new complex retains the original function of staff quarters, and adds new functions such as hotel rooms, a teaching complex and function rooms. The building's topping-up ceremony was held on 11 March 2010, and the hotel was officially opened on 21 September 2011. Tsim Sha Tsui East
Tsim Sha Tsui, often abbreviated as TST, is an urban area in southern Kowloon, Hong Kong. The area is administratively part of the Yau Tsim Mong District. Tsim Sha Tsui East is a piece of land reclaimed from the Hung Hom Bay now east of Tsim Sha Tsui. The area is bounded north by Austin Road and in the east by Hong Chong Road and Cheong Wan Road. Geographically, Tsim Sha Tsui is a cape on the tip of the Kowloon Peninsula pointing towards Victoria Harbour, opposite Central. Several villages had been established in this location before Kowloon was ceded to the British Empire in 1860. The name ''Tsim Sha Tsui'' in Cantonese means ''sharp sandspit''. It was also known as Heung Po Tau (), i.e. a port for exporting incense tree. Chow Chun Fai () (born 1980) is a Hong Kong contemporary artist specialized in visual art. He is a chairman oFotanian Artist Villagein Fo Tan, in Hong Kong and one of the few artists who are actively engaged in politics. Patrick Blanc (born June 3, 1953, Paris) is a French botanist who works at the French National Centre for Scientific Research, where he specializes in plants from tropical forests. He is the modern innovator of the green wall, specifically, he invented the modern vertical hydroponics garden, which distinguishes it from its predecessors (aka. the Green Wall, Botanical Brick invented by Professor Stanley Hart White at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1938). ''HK Magazine'' was a free English-language alternative weekly published by HK Magazine Media Group in Hong Kong.
