Hot Shoe Shuffle
''Hot Shoe Shuffle'' is a 1992 Australian musical produced by David Atkins. A jukebox musical, the score mostly includes American big band and popular songs of the 1920s to 1940s. The musical concerns seven Tap Brothers, Spring, Slap, Buck, Wing, Tip, Tap and Slide, who learn of the death of their long-absent father. Their father has left them a large inheritance, however to receive it they must rehearse and perform his legendary ‘Act’ – the Hot Shoe Shuffle. They must also include their long-lost sister, April, in the act. The original cast included David Atkins, Rhonda Burchmore, Christopher Horsey and Jack Webster. It is one of the most popular Australian musicals of all time, being the first one to have a successful run on the West End. Larry Buttrose
Larry Philip Buttrose (born 16 December 1952) is an Australian writer, journalist and academic. He is the ghostwriter of the Saroo Brierley memoir '' A Long Way Home'' (adapted for the screen as the major international feature film ''Lion''). Personal life Buttrose was born in Adelaide, South Australia. At the age of 17 he co-founded the poetry magazine ''Dharma'' (later titled ''Real Poetry'') with his then partner Donna Maegraith and friend Stephen Measday. While at university he trained as a journalist with the Australian Broadcasting Commission, and after graduating he worked as a freelance journalist. He gained his PhD from the University of Adelaide in 2011. He now lives in Sydney with his wife and two children. Max Lambert
Max Lambert (born 1955) is an Australian composer and musical director. Biography Born in 1955 in Sydney, he studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Lambert composed the musicals ''Darlinghurst Nights'' and ''Miracle City'', both first produced by the Sydney Theatre Company. With Iva Davies, he composed ''Berlin'' for the Sydney Dance Company in 1995. David Atkins, OAM (born 12 December 1955) is an Australian dancer, choreographer, music-theatre director and producer. Career Stage and television Atkins began his performance career aged 12 with a role in the musical ''Mame''. As an adult performer, as well as performing in shows such as ''A Chorus Line'' and ''The Pirates of Penzance'', he created and performed in his own works ''Dancin' Man'' and ''Dynamite''. Dein Perry
Dein Perry is an Australian tap dancer. He is founder of the recurrent tap dance production 'Tap Dogs'. His film credits include work done on the Australian movie Bootmen, as well as choreographic work on Happy Feet 2. Early life and career Perry grew up in Newcastle. He received dance lessons from the age of four. Rhonda Burchmore
Rhonda Suzanne Burchmore OAM (born 15 May 1960) is an Australian entertainer. Career Burchmore appeared as Kate in the 1982 film, '' The Pirate Movie''. Burchmore gave her first Australian theatre performance in the 1988 production of '' Sugar Babies'' opposite Garry McDonald and Broadway performer Eddie Bracken. Later that year, she had a role in the West End production of ''Sugar Babies'' opposite Mickey Rooney and Ann Miller. Whilst in the U.K, Burchmore was cast in the revival of ''Stop the World – I Want to Get Off'' as well as a role in ''Hot Shoe Shuffle''. In 1997, Burchmore opened Melbourne's Crown Casino starring in ''Red Hot & Rhonda''. Christopher Horsey
Christopher Horsey (born 11 July 1972) is an Australian entertainer, director, choreographer and performing arts teacher. Early life Horsey learnt to perform, teach and choreograph from his mother, Kay Horsey, who had a dance school for 26 years on the Gold Coast. Horsey began his tap dancing career as a pre-teen in 1984 by finishing in first place in the age 9 to 12 category of the Fred Astaire International Tap and Jazz Championship at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. At age 13 he appeared on the Australia television show ''Young Talent Time'' as their "Talent Discovery of the Week". Sondheim Theatre
The Sondheim Theatre (formerly the Queen's Theatre) is a West End theatre located in Shaftesbury Avenue on the corner of Wardour Street in the City of Westminster, London. It opened as the Queen's Theatre on 8 October 1907, as a twin to the neighbouring Hicks Theatre (now the Gielgud Theatre) which had opened ten months earlier. Both theatres were designed by W. G. R. Sprague. The theatre was Grade II listed by English Heritage in June 1972. The Eighth Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards (generally known as the ARIA Music Awards or simply The ARIAS) was held on 30 March 1994 at the State Theatre in Sydney.
