''Hot Chocolate'' is the second studio album by British soul (music), soul band Hot Chocolate (band), Hot Chocolate. It was released in November 1975 on the RAK Records label, owned by Mickie Most, who was the band's producer. The album peaked at number thirty-four on the UK Albums Chart and forty-one on the US Billboard 200, ''Billboard'' 200 album chart. The original 1975 LP release comprised ten original songs, of which only one ("You Sexy Thing") was credited to the band's writing team, lead vocalist Errol Brown and bassist Tony Wilson (musician), Tony Wilson. Brown and Wilson wrote rest of the album separately, with the band members Harvey Hinsley, Patrick Olive and Tony Connor contributing "A Warm Smile". The album includes the group's best-known hit, "You Sexy Thing" and the top-10 UK and Irish hit "A Child's Prayer". The album was issued on CD for the first time with six bonus tracks in 2009. The group had at least one hit song every year on the UK Singles Chart from 1970 to 1980. Their hits include, "You Sexy Thing", a UK number two which also made the top 10 in three decades and reached number three on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100—the song also featured in the popular British comedy film ''The Full Monty'' (1997)—"So You Win Again", topped the UK Charts, "Every 1's a Winner", reached number six in the US, " It Started with a Kiss", UK top five, and " Emma", charted at number three in the UK and number 8 in the US. UK Albums Chart
The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on UKChartsPlus as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. However, even though number 100 was classed as a hit album (as in the case of The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums) in the 1980s until January 1989, since the compilations were removed this definition was changed to Top 75 with follow-up books such as The Virgin Book of British Hit Albums book only including this data. Kent Music Report
The Kent Music Report was a weekly record chart of Australian music singles and albums which was compiled by music enthusiast David Kent from May 1974 through to January 1999. The chart was re-branded the Australian Music Report (AMR) in July 1987. From June 1988, the Australian Recording Industry Association, which had been using the top 50 portion of the report under licence since mid-1983, chose to produce their own listing as the ARIA Charts. Before the Kent Report, ''Go-Set'' magazine published weekly Top-40 Singles from 1966, and Album charts from 1970 until the magazine's demise in August 1974. David Kent later published Australian charts from 1940 to 1973 in a retrospective fashion, using state by state chart data obtained from various Australian radio stations. John Cameron (musician)
John Cameron (born 20 March 1944) is a British composer, arranger, conductor and musician. He is well known for his many film, TV and stage credits, and for his contributions to pop recordings, notably those by Donovan, Cilla Black and the group Hot Chocolate. Cameron's instrumental version of Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love", became a hit for his group CCS and, for many years, a version of Cameron's arrangement was used as the theme music for the BBC TV show, ''Top of the Pops''. Biography Cameron was born in Woodford, Essex. Collective Consciousness Society
CCS, sometimes written as C.C.S., was a British musical group, led by blues guitarist Alexis Korner. The name was derived as an abbreviation of ''Collective Consciousness Society''. Formed in 1970 by musical director John Cameron and record producer Mickie Most, CCS consisted largely of session musicians, and was created primarily as a recording outfit. The personnel also included Peter Thorup, vocals; Alan Parker, guitar; Harold McNair, flute; Herbie Flowers, bass; Roger Coulam, keyboards; Barry Morgan, drums; plus Don Lusher and Bill Geldard, trombone. Some of the musicians were also members of Blue Mink. Tony Wilson (musician)
Anthony Wilson (born 8 October 1947) is a Trinidadian vocalist, bass guitarist and songwriter, best known for his time with soul and funk band Hot Chocolate (band), Hot Chocolate. He co-wrote the Hot Chocolate hits "Love Is Life", "Emma (Hot Chocolate song), Emma", "Brother Louie (Hot Chocolate song), Brother Louie" and "You Sexy Thing". Career Wilson was born in Trinidad, and was involved with music from the age of 16. He was a member of the group Soul Brothers, who released three singles. He was a founding member of Hot Chocolate in 1968, and left the band in 1976. Wilson is credited with persuading Hot Chocolate's lead singer Errol Brown to commit his songwriting ideas to paper. He shared lead vocal duties with Brown on Hot Chocolate's early hits. Errol Brown
Lester Errol Brown MBE (12 November 1943 – 6 May 2015) was a British-Jamaican singer and songwriter, best known as the frontman of the soul and funk band Hot Chocolate. In 2004, Brown received the Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music. Career Brown was born in Kingston, Jamaica, but moved to the UK when he was twelve years old. His break in music came in 1969 when he recorded a version of John Lennon's "Give Peace a Chance" with a band called "Hot Chocolate Band". Unable to change the lyrics without Lennon's permission, he sent a copy to his record label, Apple, and the song was released with Lennon's approval. The Hot Chocolate albums were produced by Mickie Most and recorded at the Rak Records studio. Brown left the group in 1985 to take a hiatus from music.
