A trauma center (or trauma centre) is a hospital equipped and staffed to provide care for patients suffering from major trauma, major traumatic injuries such as Falling (accident), falls, motor vehicle collisions, or gunshot wounds. A trauma center may also refer to an emergency department (also known as a "casualty department" or "accident and emergency") without the presence of specialized services to care for victims of major trauma. In the United States, a hospital can receive trauma center status by meeting specific criteria established by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and passing a site review by the Verification Review Committee. Cairo () is a city in Grady County, Georgia, United States. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 10,179. The city is the county seat of Grady County. History Cairo was founded in 1835. The Atrium Health Navicent Medical Center is a 637-bed hospital located in Macon, Georgia. Formerly known as The Medical Center of Central Georgia (MCCG), the hospital is part of the Atrium Health Navicent healthcare system. MCNH is the second largest hospital in Georgia, behind Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. Macon ( ), officially Macon–Bibb County, is a consolidated city-county in the U.S. state of Georgia. Situated near the fall line of the Ocmulgee River, it is located southeast of Atlanta and lies near the geographic center of the state of Georgia—hence the city's nickname, "The Heart of Georgia". Baldwin County is a county located in the central portion of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 43,799. The county seat is Milledgeville, which was developed along the Oconee River. Baldwin County is part of the Milledgeville, GA Micropolitan Statistical Area. History For centuries the land was occupied by the Creek Nation, and for thousands of years before them, varying cultures of indigenous peoples. Milledgeville, Georgia
Milledgeville is a city in and the county seat of Baldwin County in the U.S. state of Georgia. It is northeast of Macon and bordered on the east by the Oconee River. The rapid current of the river here made this an attractive location to build a city. It was the capital of Georgia from 1804 to 1868, including during the American Civil War. Milledgeville was preceded as the capital city by Louisville and was succeeded by Atlanta, the current capital. Today U.S. Highway 441 connects Milledgeville to Madison, Athens, and Dublin. Navicent Health Baldwin
Navicent Health Baldwin, formerly known as Oconee Regional Medical Center, is a 140-bed hospital in Milledgeville, Georgia. It serves the three areas of Baldwin, Hancock, and Wilkinson counties. History In 1953, a bond referendum was held in Baldwin County which favored the issuance of hospital bonds. Additional required funds for hospital construction were obtained subsequently from the Federal and State Governments through provisions of the Hill-Burton Act, and the Commission of Roads and Revenue of Baldwin County established the Baldwin County Hospital Authority under the 1941 Georgia Hospital Authorities Law.
