Hospital Dr. Pila
Hospital Metropolitano Dr. Pila or, more commonly, Hospital Dr. Pila is a hospital in Ponce, Puerto Rico. History The hospital was founded in 1925 in by Dr. Manuel de la Pila Iglesias, a Spaniard from Cádiz, Spain, who had been raised in Ponce. Prior to founding Hospital Dr. Pila, he worked for the municipal government at Ponce's Tricoche Municipal Hospital and at the private Hospital San Lucas both in Ponce. He had also been medical director at the Hospital de Damas, also in Ponce. The hospital was founded as a small medical clinic; it has since grown considerably. It was originally named ''"Clinica Quirurgica del Dr. de la Pila Iglesias"'' (Surgical Clinic of Dr. de la Pila Iglesias). It was located in the now Ponce Historic Zone at the northwest corner of Marina and Jobos streets in Ponce. Canas Urbano
Canas Urbano is one of the 31 barrio of the municipality of Ponce, Puerto Rico. Along with Machuelo Abajo, Magueyes Urbano, Portugués Urbano, and San Antón, Canas Urbano is one of the municipality's five originally rural barrios that are now also part of the urban zone of the city of Ponce. The name of this barrio is of native indigenous origin. It was created in 1953. Hospital Tricoche
Albergue Caritativo Tricoche or Hospital Tricoche (English: ''Tricoche Charitable Shelter'' or ''Tricoche Hospital'') is a historic building located on Calle Tricoche street in Ponce, Puerto Rico, in the city's historic district. It was designed by the Spanish Royal Corps of Engineers. The architecture consists of 19th-century civil architecture. When built in 1878, "it held the top spot among public building in Puerto Rico," based on its size and beauty. The hospital was named after Valentin Tricoche, a 19th-century philanthropist and land owner in Ponce with lands on the western bank of Rio Bucana which included lands with a stone mine. Valentin Tricoche left moneys in his will for the construction of the hospital.
