Horst Kemmling
Horst Kemmling is a retired Germany, German List of Germany national rugby union players, international rugby union player, having played for the TSV Victoria Linden in the Rugby-Bundesliga and the Germany national rugby union team, German national rugby union team. Kemmling was, until 27 October 2012, Germany's record rugby international, having played 50 internationals for his country between 1976 and 1994. With the opening game of Germany's 2012–14 campaign, Alexander Widiker played his 51st game for his country, thereby surpassing Kemmling's record. Kemmling has also captained Germany for a lengthy period of time during that era. During his time at Viktoria Linden, he won five German championships with the club. He was the captain of the German team that won promotion to the A-group of European rugby in 1981, something Germany did not achieve again until 2008. TSV Victoria Linden
The TSV Victoria Linden is a German rugby union club from the Linden suburb of Hannover, currently playing in the Rugby-Bundesliga. Apart from rugby, the club also offers other sports, such as triathlon and athletics. The club is Germany's record rugby union champion, with 20 titles. History ''Victoria'' was formed in 1900, in Hannover, one of the centres of German rugby. The club had little success before the First World War and could only earn one national championship between the wars, in 1929. Two losing finals came before that, in 1924 and 1927. After its title, ''Victoria'' continued its undistinguished run until after the Second World War, when it became Germany's most successful club. The Rugby-Bundesliga is the highest level of the league system for rugby union in Germany, organised by the German Rugby Federation. The league is predominantly amateur, with only one club in the league being officially a professional outfit, the Heidelberger RK.
